Caribbean - Turks&Caicos - anything besides beach and water?

Currently, there are dirt cheap flights from YHZ to PLS available. I'm tempted to go. But what would a traveler do there alone for a whole week?
I understand most tourists do things like diving, swimming, sunbathing on beachtes, boat tours, and spending a lot of money on hotels and luxurious meals.
If that is not appealing to a traveler, should he still go to Providenciales? Is there something else to do?

T&C is like any other Caribbean island, where you can do the resort thing, piss away tons of money on hotel fare and try food that you can get at any Caribbean resort at exorbitant prices, or you can venture into town and get some great local food that's dirt cheap and probably way better then any food you'd find resort side.
If you're looking for museums and you're a high maintenance traveller then I probably wouldn't go. But if you're a have fun anywhere, love local culture, and don't find colored people scary you should totally go!
Remember, cheap flights usually mean empty. There's usually a reason people aren't going. Grand Turk can be a blast though!

No, I usually don't like museums (unless they are hands-on). :-)
I've never been to any carribean island (though T&C, technically speaking, is not carribean, *nitpick*).
A couple of years ago, I've been to Mauritius for a week (dirt cheap flight again) and had a blast. I traveled on local buses, tried different food, etc. And I didn't visit a single museum or hotel. Then again, Mauritius is very multicultural and far away from T&C.
I guess flights to T&C are cheap because they make the money through hotels and food.

Who? The airlines?
Whoever pays money to the airlines. Tour operators, tourism organization, government...
Look at B.. Was it Bermuda or Bahamas? Cheap flights are to be had oftentimes, these tickets can't cover the costs. Once you are there, everything is expensive.

Sometimes tourism boards guarantee a percentage of the flight, sometimes the slots are already schedules and no ones biting. I'm sure you can do the research and find out which case it is, but who cares? If its a cheap flight, and you can find decent accommodations it doesn't really matter.
