Las Vegas - which hotel? 22 year old lads at XmasView Full Version : which hotel? 22 year old lads at Xmas chipsodg Feb 15, 12, 1:54 am Flying in 23 December for 5 nights what hotel would you recommend for two lads, is it best to book now or wait until when? many thanks bobu Feb 15, 12, 4:31 am It's much too early to book now to be honest. If you'd like, take a look at www.mycheapvegas.com for promo codes and see what's available now, but the good december specials shouldn't arrive till fall. As for which hotel for recommendation, depends what you're looking to do there, and what kind of budget you guys have. chipsodg Feb 15, 12, 6:43 am no more than £100 per night, would like to gamble, nightlife, drink and girls! thank you Yankeeflyer Feb 15, 12, 1:15 pm no more than £100 per night, would like to gamble, nightlife, drink and girls! thank you Christmas week isn't super busy usually, though it's a little more crowded than early December, but you are staying on five "weeknights" so pricing should be good and you should have a lot of options in your price range. Planet Hollywood has reasonably priced rooms, a younger vibe, and a great location in the center of things. There are many options in this basically 4-star category that should under your budget (NYNY, Paris/Bally's, Mirage, TI, MGM, Monte Carlo, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, etc, etc.) If you want a bit more upscale room/hotel, Aria across the street from PH would work but I'd opt for a mini-suite at Venetian/Palazzo. Both might be a little more than the 4-stars named above but should be within your budget or close to it. Altoid Feb 15, 12, 2:06 pm no more than £100 per night, would like to gamble, nightlife, drink and girls! thank you If you're into clubs, Marquee for EDM music (Trance/House/etc), XS for just pure awesome looking club (though outside will be closed at this point). Tons of girls at those clubs, but TAO also seems to really bring in girls. Not cheap to club in Vegas though, also nice shirt and shoes required with decent pair of jeans. bobu Feb 15, 12, 4:49 pm no more than £100 per night, would like to gamble, nightlife, drink and girls! thank you I'd probably recommend you 1) Cosmopolitan - Good location, great club, hot, rich, young, attractive people, great atmosphere, but a tad higher budget. You should be able to get rooms with your budget though 2) Planet Hollywood - Good location, close to great clubs, hot, young, attractive people, more party atmosphere, and very affordable Both these hotels don't have resort fees as well...for now. ijgordon Feb 15, 12, 8:17 pm I think Planet Hollywood is a great fit with what the OP is looking for and it may come in meaningfully under the budget. Within Yankeeflyer's 4* recommendations, I think Paris, Mirage, TI, MGM and Mandalay are also reasonably good options. Venetian/Palazzo a good pick but likely to be over the budget. Keep in mind that even if you get a good deal at a 5* property, everything within the property will cost more (like restaurants). Obviously you don't need to eat there, but it adds some hassle factor. djdakine Feb 17, 12, 12:36 pm just did a quick search on travelocity...you could stay at ARIA/VDARA, MIRAGE, PH for about $125 usd, so def under £100 per night. As for booking too early, you might not find many deals this early. I'm going in May again, I have decent deals locked in on rooms - but probably wont see the bulk of deals until MARCH. BUT, my last trip in JANUARAY for CES, I booked our rooms 9 months ahead. ex. Caesars $80/night, Harrahs $45/night when I booked in MARCH. By SEP Caesars was 350, Harahs 150. By DEC Caesars was 450, Harrahs was 225. I mean this was because of CES. I dont know what the XMAS crowd looks like. But it's ok to book something early, then cancel it if you see something better - just make sure it's not FINAL/non-cancel type. As for location - I think i'd rather stay at Caesars/Mirage, or any of the Harrah properties right across the street. I find the City Center + PH too far south to walk to other properties (I must be lazy + have no patience to wait for those cabby lines). I'd guess you'd want to stay between Marquee(COSMO) + XS (ENCORE). Those across the street properties aren't the greatest, but my cousin had a good point this last trip. He doesnt need a girl coming to his room anyways. FriscoDad Feb 17, 12, 10:48 pm All are perfect for your demographic. Also consider Hard Rock (but it's a 12 minute walk to the strip). MGM's pool scene is good and so is Encore's. COOLIO Feb 18, 12, 4:25 pm I've been Christmas week for 3 of the last 5 years. Start looking around late summer. Ive managed to get Caesers for $65 a night ($20 trick for Augustus tower twice) and Encore for $35 and resort credit. The latter was a loophole on Expedia.ca but I cancelled Bellagio at $90 to switch to Encore. That week is always a cheap week in Vegas as its usually pretty dead once the Rodeo leaves town and before people head in for NYE. Leave it until late summer to start looking. $100 will see you fine and in a nice hotel :) azlefty Feb 22, 12, 2:59 am The early side of christmas (meaning starting before and staying until the 25th) will have much cheaper room rates and be less crowded. Mid-December is the slowest time of the year for Vegas. There will still be plenty of people, but not as much as a few days later. After Christmas it will suddenly get very busy, culminating in new years' eve. Starting around October look on hotels' web sites or on lasvegasadvisor.com hotel list for package deals. The hotels' offers are usually better than those offered through agencies like travelocity or hotels.com. You might find something that includes rooms bundled with add-ons such as nightclub admissions or buffet. These will likely not be valid after xmas day. The clubs with freebies won't likely be the hippest clubs in town, but it will give you a chance to chat up some people outside your usual target demographic. What happens in vegas stays in vegas. I've seen some very aggressive promos mostly at the second-tier places (which are very nice hotels and in most other places would be top tier, and upgraded suite rooms are probably fabulous) such as Mirage, MGM Grand, Tropicana, Luxor. The Venetian/Palazzo, Mandalay Bay, and Trump also frequently have interesting promos. (Trump has no casino.) chipsodg Feb 22, 12, 6:26 am The early side of christmas (meaning starting before and staying until the 25th) will have much cheaper room rates and be less crowded. I love that hotel, but I don't mind being a bit farther from the strip...others might. |
