Hawaii - Best Waikiki Hotel "Young Singles Pool Scene"?View Full Version : Best Waikiki Hotel "Young Singles Pool Scene"? midtownj Feb 14, 12, 7:09 pm Does it exist ala Vegas, or is all of Waikiki too family oriented? Thanks  bloodyeyeballs Feb 14, 12, 8:31 pm I go there all the time. If you are looking for a singles oriented trip, pick one of the medium priced hotels on the beach, such as the Outrigger, to name one. The pool scene is similar to Vegas, but there are more Japanese tourists and they tend to keep to themselves. You obviously would want to avoid times when families go there such as Christmastime, President's week, and most of the Summer. Keep in mind that they also get a lot of Aussie tourists with families as they are out during our Winter months. I am way past my singles period, but the public beach just East of the Westin Moana surfrider seems to have a high number of young attractive people. A hotel such as the Outrigger is just a short walk from this beach. midtownj Feb 14, 12, 11:11 pm Thnanks! Yes Moana and that area seems to be less family oriented, probably due to being so central to the bars, etc. ..know of any All-Inclusive hotels? Company is paying and would like to get my meals/drinks included with hotel/flight package, as opposed to having to expense reimburse individual meals (I eat a ton). All packages I see are only for flights/hotels, no meals. Ocn Vw 1K Feb 14, 12, 11:36 pm For more discussion, please follow the thread as it moves to the Travel->Hawaii forum. Thanks  Love Waikiki, its resorts/hotels, vibe, and nightlife, (if you are a frequent HI visitor, either you do or don't) but, imho -- you are not going to get the "young single pool scene ala Vegas" at any Waikiki hotel/resort. Just don't want you to expect the LV kind of higher end, private pools/cabanas/service that are definitely marketed now at several of the LV resorts/hotels to the 20'-30's demographic who want be "mingle" ;) Of course, you will see people of all ages on Waikiki beach and at the hotels. And locals of course. But, no matter what time of year, you will also mingle with lots of families, children, seniors, tourists from the US and all over the world. Our experience of many years of Waikiki vacations is that the younger crowd tends to plant themselves right on the beach for the day, not by a hotel/resort pool. Again, of course exceptions to that also. With that said -- there are night clubs, dance clubs, bars, etc, within easy walking distance, that once the sun sets, are going to cater to a late night younger crowd. Try one of the catamaran booze cruises that launch off Waikiki beach several times a day. No guarantees, but they often attract a younger, single crowd. Agree with the advice above that perhaps a less expensive hotel might attract a younger crowd. Again, no guarantees, but sometimes "20 somethings" are on more of a budget. Not always so, of course. Anyway, just our two cents. Have fun! davesam12 Feb 15, 12, 9:12 am Also, there are no all inclusive Waikiki resort/hotels that I am aware of. You can get "breakfast packages" etc. while booking. Drinks? Sorry, the hotels want you to buy those $12 or higher Mai Tai's. Look for "happy hours" for cheaper drinks and food. bitachu Feb 15, 12, 6:35 pm being a couple yrs out of my 20s...i would say: Best thing that describes what your looking for is probably the new Standard hotel...they have been throwing some bigger pool parties... also other hotels that throw some bigger pool parties: sheraton/ queen kapiolani follow http://www.supercw.com/blog/ i think she organizes or promotes alot of the pool parties.. no all inclusive hotels in waikiki that i know of WRCSolberg Feb 16, 12, 11:14 am You might want to try this place, it's at one of the Astons on the Diamondhead end of Waikiki. They have a pool and a bar and it's a pretty young scene. It also has a pretty spectacular view of Waikiki beach as well. http://tikisgrill.com/ midtownj Feb 20, 12, 4:12 pm thanks all! will do some research based on your advice |
