Asiana Club - LAX-ICN Aircraft swap- Switch to United 747 business?

Hi everyone. I booked LAX-ICN on business class on OZ in the end of March and was hoping it will be new business seat. But just received a call from OZ that it will be the old business seat because of aircraft swap.

Now I have the option to switch the award ticket to United 747 out of SFO. My question is:

1. Is United 747 business seat better than OZ old business seat? How about service?
2. Is united 747 business seat all upgraded to flat seat?

No, the 11:50AM (OZ201) flight that has been a class B747 has been swapped to a 2 cabin 777 with the new fully flat business class. So that is an improvement in terms of the business class! The 747 has the old seat.

1. Yes and full AVOD. OZ old C seats will have no AVOD, movies run in a loop, service and food would not be as good as OZ. However, I would choose UA since your flight is midnight, sleep is more important.

The daytime is 747, and the night time is 2 class 777, OP is most likely referring to the night flight OZ 203 got swapped to the old seats.

Thanks for the reply. I am still debating if I should rebook on United 747 biz. Basically I need to have one more day off work because SFO-PEK 747 leaves in the noon. OZ flight leaves at midnight. OZ old business seats really suck.

Also, I used Continental Onepass miles and not sure if I can spend 10K more miles to upgrade to first class. I can see there is first class availability.

UA service and food is better or worse than OZ? I don't get that sentence since you were referring to OZ in the beginning.

Especially not good for an overnight flight, unless you can sleep at an angle.

If you can take OZ QS then why are you worrying ? Isn't this thread about people got downgrade from QS to old C seat ?

It all comes down to how much you value the service against how much you value the seat. UA have a lie flat bed, but lousy service. OZ have a slightly angled bed, but great service.

Personally, I can't imagine any situation where I would pick UA over OZ, with or without the new seats. However, as this is a night flight I could understand why you might prefer the UA seat.
