Going to MAD this week with Swiss (no strikes there at least).

What is the lounge situation? If I remember correctly the lounge used in MAD is an airport lounge, not a Spanair one, so no effect from the Spanair bankruptcy, right?

Hi creber,

Last time I flew ex MAD was with JK so I used their lounge. I do not know if other other *A members were using that lounge or another one.
In any case you can check in the LX(or LH) web which lounge they are currently using.
In BCN they moved to a new lounge within hours of the JK bankruptcy, so you should be OK.

Was there yesterday. With LX you can use the lounge at C45... which is about 5-10 minutes walk from where LX is normally departing (in D). Terminal 2 was empty, almost no passengers anywhere... not sure if that is because SpanAir, but if that is always the case, they can close Terminal 2...

Thanks.

I always had the impression that since Iberia's move to T4 the old terminals 1-3 were two thirds under-utilized. T1 sees some action during longhaul rush hours, in T2 there are just a few Schengen Star players left (LX, LH, SK, TP, SN...) + some U2 and FR flights, and in the T3 "rotunda" you have the Air Europa departures plus the few flights of some of the Skyteam carriers (AF, KL, AZ). MAD looks over-capacity, indeed. But let's not forget that the airport has lost two carriers that had their base or at least major operations there, Spanair and Air Comet.

Thanks for the info as I will also be flying LX from MAD.

Strange that LX uses another lounge than LH or SK (which use the "Puerta del Sol" lounge located in T3)
