Florida - JAX Airport - Could be better..

Well, my visits to JAX have usually been brief, since I fly and then out.
This trip United ran into a snag and I was stuck in JAX ( http://www.jia.aero/ ) for several hours. I miss the little old Tampa airport... JAX is noisy due to very loud CNN TVs that are everywhere, there is no peace. And the CNN stations is definately not an uplifting or optimistic station to have running 24x7, so the overall impression of JAX is a bit sour..

At the gates can be a bit loud, I suppose, but near the center of the terminal it is pretty nice. And in the central lobby outside security it is positively lovely.

JAX is very recently remodeled and one of the cleaner, brighter, nicer facilities I've been in recently.

I fly in and out of JAX on occasion, just for a change from MCO. It's smaller, than MCO, but I find it a lot easier to kick back and relax than Orlando.
Of course, the trade-off is limited non-stop flights. MCO has a ton thanks to Disney.

JAX is indeed fairly recently remodeled airport. I don't have much of a problem with it, but I agree with the OP. I'd not want to be stuck there for long periods of time. There are not too many airports in the US that are handy for long layovers.

The OP could have purchased a day pass for the Delta Skyclub at JAX. It's not large, but I've always been able to find a place to sit down. There is an area at the back away from the TV that is quieter than the front part.

I split my flying between DAB (only 1 small bar/snack shop past security), JAX, and MCO and I like that JAX is small but still has an airline club.

Not sure I would describe TPA as "little," but it is certainly probably about the best airport in the country to be based at in terms of convenience and efficiency.

Yes, they did. They renovated the entire terminal & concourse, too. I remember that I came to JAX last 4 years ago and I did not realize know the entire terminal is underway renovation. It was so much changes. I visit to see my old friend Marilyn. You can check this out on FB.
