Taking a 4-day weekend trip to the Bretagne area over Easter weekend, and was looking for some tips and ideas. I'm renting a car from Brest airport and enjoy UNESCO tourism, local foods and beers and less crowded, off the tourist trail type tourism spots (if that makes sense).

I'd like to visit Mont Sant Michel. Are there local tours from Brest or St. Malo that do day trips to the island? Do they operate on holidays and Sundays? I found a few online but they seem to originate in Paris.

I'd like to do a lighthouse tour if it is possible. Are there any lighthouses that are open to the public or have any kind of guided tours of the facilities? This is probably a long shot but does anyone know of a lighthouse inn where you can stay overnight in the lighthouse?

Is it worth going to Jersey by ferry for a day trip, or is that overrated?

Seaside hotels and restaurants, not too expensive. Ideas?

Thanks for the tips.

Hi,
In a 4-day weekend, I would advise not to spread out too far.
I understood that you are renting a car from Brest airport...from Brest the Mont St Michel is a three-hour drive at least, plus it might also be packed during easter, so I would advise to arrive at least the day before and spend a night in St Malo. AFAIK there is still a car park near the Mont (be careful of the tide though :D ).
Otherwise, from Brest I would recommend going to Crozon, it's a beautiful place to go if it's not stormy!

There's only one lighthouse I know where you can spend the night: http://en.pharedekerbel.com. Seems they are fully booked though
Otherwise go to Audierne and La pointe du Raz, or even Penmarch in south-west Brittany, there are a few lighthouses to visit!

PS: If you go to a "creperie" in Brittany, order some "chouchen" (pronounse Shoe-shane), you won't regret it :)

I may skip Mont St Michel, as it looks like driving distances are more than I anticipated. The first two nights I booked a room at a Manor outside of Douarnenez, and I'll probably go to Carnac on the first full day. The second day (Sunday) is still wide open, and the third day (Easter Monday) I'll probably spend around Brest, as I think much will be closed, and my flight leaves in the early afternoon.

Jersey is out of the equation.

If you booked a place near Douarnenez, I would recommend visiting the lighthouse in Penmarch, they are open all year round (more info on www.penmarch.fr), it should be a quick drive from Douarnenez.
Also don't miss the "baie des trépassés" (the bay of the dead) close to the Pointe du Raz.
Moreover, if you want to see some Vauban forts, head to Concarneau, only 1 hour away from Douarnenez.

La Plage, near Douarnenez, is a very nice hotel that's next to a dune covered parkland that still has German bunkers. The tides are amazing.

If you're around Douarnenez (not much to do in the town itself), take a spin out to http://www.biscuiteriedelapointeduraz.com/ - you'll be intoxicated by the smells! Also, if you're going to Brest, head to Oceanopolis

Have a great time, but if you haven't already done so, I'd would suggest that you book your hotel in advance as there will be more visitors than usual and remember that restaurants may also be fuller than usual. And don't forget to try the cider or the Calvados!

I did...two nights in Plonevez Porzay and one in Roscoff. I'm not a big cider fan; I'm going to look for some of the local beer that is supposedly brewed with sea salt.
