Choice Privileges - new Ascend Collection hotel to open

A redevelopment effort is under way to turn the former Meade School in Gettysburg into an 18-suite luxury hotel expected to open this summer, according to a news release.

Peter Monahan, local businessman and past chairman of the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, and wife, Elizabeth, recently purchased the school building to convert it into the Federal Pointe Inn, the release stated.

No word on when it will open, but the article does state, "The hotel will be part of Choice Hotels International's Ascend Collection for "unique and historic properties," Monahan said."

I had to google Rosfest to find out what it was. :D

I'm pondering trying to convince Mr. Kipper that we'll need a night away in Gettysburg once the hotel opens just to see how it is.

The article mentions the GM also owns/runs the Quality Inn at General Lee's Headquarters. Fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor with 83% 4-5 star ratings and only nine (out of 200+) 1-2 star ratings:

Platinum hotel award from Choice, and for once a Choice Hotel that has plenty of pictures on the website. Hotel looks very nice, and downright fantastic for a Quality Inn, with an onsite brewpub as well. Not bad.

You peaked my interest with the "onsite brewpub" but then I realized you meant Appalachian Brewing Company, which I guess is technically "onsite." It's in the same parking lot, but having been to ABC, I've never thought it to be "part of the hotel."
