Edited. I read the handbook, it appears to use Silver *A (Asiana Gold), I need to fly with OZ before I can get into the lounges :)

On a related term:
Do OZ only have Asiana lounges in Korea?

Lastly, can someone advise me what is the likely fuel surcharge or any/all charges applied if I want a award ticket say from Asia to New Zealand or Australia. Like from Seoul or Tokyo or Hong Kong or Singapore to either Australia or New Zealand. OZ doesn't fly to NZL, so would be using a partner *A airline. All I could get was that OZ needs 68,000 points.

Cheers.

*Silver will not get you into any of the *Alliance's lounges. You have to be Diamond on above the Asiana Club program; obviously Business Class and higher gets you in.

OZ only has Asiana Lounges in Korea. There are contract lounges that OZ uses, as well as, *Gold gets you into any of the *Alliance lounges.

The fuel surcharge will be in the ball of $300...depending upon the route and carrier.

Is $300 the market price for these surcharges? Ie., if you were paying for a normal purchased ticket? So it's not deliberately higher for reward redemption. Also is it more/less in align with the other airlines like Singapore Airlines or Air New Zelanad when I'm getting reward? I ask this b/c Asiana does not fly into NZL.

Not the alliance lounges. Just the OZ lounge.
Oh ... Asiana Gold (Silver *A) gets given 2 business lounges access "coupons". This can only be used in Asiana Lounges when flying with OZ.

Not completely true. At least LH and LX have Business lounges which are accessible for *S, whereas the *G is needed for the Gold lounges. Not sure about other airlines though.

I am pretty sure that LH and LX only allow lounge access for their own *S and that the *S members from other *A airlines are not allowed in. Check this chart for details:

Access to Miles & More/LH Group-operated Business Lounges is only applicable to their 'own' programme's *Ss.
