I would just book nights at the four cheapest Hampton Inns I could find, plus, if you find a cheaper rate online than they have on the website, you get 50 dollars, so it might come out really cheap for you.

So all they want you to do is book four more nights between 1/1/04 and 2/10/04 and they'll give you Diamond, even before you complete those four nights ... seems more than fair to me.
I think that is a fairly reasonable offer. You are getting Diamond and a relatively low requirement to maintain it.
As for their original reply, I'm sure they get lots of requests this time of year and probable have a canned response. Once they get a follow-up, they must take it a little more seriously.

You're an auditor, and you don't see the difference between 56 and 60? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I think the offer is very reasonable, and that you your correspondence got elevated to a supervisor when you wrote back.
Lots of people on here go to much greater trouble to make their stays.
The HGI Oakville (http://www.hiltongardeninn.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=VUR5S0P03PX00CSGBIXM22QKIYF CVUUC?ctyhocn=YTOTVGI) is just 20 miles down the QEW from Hamilton. You should be able to stay there in January again, according to your correspondence.

I believe their offer to you is very fair.

I also think the offer is fair. Actually I think it's way beyond fair.
You have made choices that are for your convenience and your expecting Hilton to reward you anyway.
There is a Hilton in Sydney it's just not downtown but rather at the airport.
You could of made the choice to switch back and forth between a couple of Hilton properties changing each day on some of your longer stays and made it with stays. That's how I qualified for Diamond. It was **** inconvenient but I wanted to have the Diamond status so I made the sacrafice.
Now you tell me all I had to do was complain and tell them that I could of qualified if I had made different choices and they would extend the time for me to qualify. Great, I wish I knew that when I was changing hotels every night for a week. I too stayed in Sydney this past year on an award stay and Hilton put me up downtown in the aVillion. I didn't get the stay credited as an award stay because I didn't stay at the Hilton at the airport. Seemed fair to me so I didn't complain. In my opinion Hilton has made you a generous offer.

I see this as a good compromise. The alternative is for you not to get an apportunity to get Diamond. I suppose, you could consider moving over to Starwood were you need 50 nights for Platinum.
I would accept their offer and plan the year so that you get all your stays in for 2005. good luck.

No, she didn't say that, and I wouldn't count on it unless you just want more "trouble". If you had left the correspondence, I'd quote the exact language. But you're really stretching things to the point of absurdity to say they should give you status for reservations rather than stays.

Well, the original posting was taken down, so I'm relying on my shoddy memory, but I do think that Hilton indicated they would continue diamond status upon proof of booking, but implied that diamond would be taken away if the stays weren't actually completed by the date set forth.

Boy, you sure are cheap. I think that Hilton could do without your buisness.

I think it is kind of frowned upon to just completely remove a post on a message board because it makes everyone else's posts in the thread look silly and someone who comes to the thread later cannot understand what it was about.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. Maybe the attitude of the OP was a little off-putting. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Anyhow: check out this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/009158.html) and especially my posts. I am in a similar position - Diamond and won't make it this year.
I have been treated rather royally by Hilton since I got my Diamond, and if I were given the opportunity to get it again for 4 stays I would do it on my hands and knees!
Do what the other thread says; try it the way I did it (fully explained) and not only will you get your Diamond with four stays, you will also get a nice 50K bonus!
Let your employees know about it, too.

BigLar the deleted post showed HHonors offering to extend the deadline for getting his Diamond qualifying stays. He had already qualified for Gold. They're giving him to sometime in February to get the four more nights necessary to make Diamond. He didn't like it, and we all thought it was a good offer.

I know what the deleted post says; I read it before it disappeared. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
The point of my post was that, not only should he jump on the offer from HHonors (very generous in my opinion), but if he does he should also sign up for the ACAQ promo. I did it as a Diamond, and he could, too. Not only get his Diamond back, but pick up a pile'o'points as well.
Heck, I wish I had that kind of offer going on in my account!
