Hi all,

I will be flying out of EWR (Newark) but I live in Delaware and I was looking for Amtrak tickets on 2/19 but the lowest is like $62 and the $86 all in the morning and my flight is at night. Coming back its not bad $46 dollar but if I can get it lower it would be great.

Is there anyway I can get some codes for discount? I don't have guest rewards.
Is 500 referral to new customers get it immediately and can it be redeemed.

Just trying to find a way to lower my fare. If this is not the right place to post this kindly remove it.

Also, can I carry 2 checking baggage for flight on the train. Is there additional fees for bags?

You have missed the 14 day advance purchase discount.
Decide quickly what you care to do as fares will only increase from here.

Cheaper alternative would be Amtrak to Phil 30th St and then NJ transit to Newark.

Saves 10 -30 dollars

Bags are okay no fee.

As Darben already mentioned, prices will only go up. The prices are capacity controlled and as more tickets are sold for a particular train, the price goes up.

There is a coupon code thread, but I am not aware of any particular promotion that will work for you on this routing right now.

Yes, you will get 500 points if you get a referral for AGR and then travel in the next 30 days. However, 500 points isn't redeemable for anything of value - I believe you need at least 3000 points for a coach class seat on the NEC regional.

Cheaper alternative would be Amtrak to Phil 30th St and then NJ transit to Newark.

NJ Transit only serves Philadelphia-30th Street as part of their Atlantic City service; the Northeast Corridor trains only go as far south as Trenton.

The cheapest alternative would be SEPTA commuter rail (Wilmington-Newark line) from Wilmington to Philadelphia-30th Street, SEPTA (Trenton line) from Philadelphia to Trenton, and NJ Transit (Northeast Corridor line) from Trenton to Newark. The total fare for that trip appears to be $26.50 one-way; total time about 3 hours including some waiting time at both transfer stations.

SEPTA/NJ Transit are cheaper, but I'd just bite the bullet and take Amtrak. Much more comfortable.
