Los Angeles - LAX Flight Times - Least Traffic Hassle

Final destination is Temecula. LAX has the best (by far) fares. I can arrive at either 10 am or 2:30 pm on a weekday and depart at either 11 am or 3:30, also on a weekday (Monday). What would be the better times from a driving perspective?

As far as driving from LAX to Temecula, any better way than Mapquest's - 105 to 605 to 91 to 15?

Thanks.

Arrive at 10am, and depart at 3:30pm. While traffic is always a case of YMMV, in theory you will be safe due to the mid-day window. Roughly from 10am to 2:30pm traffic is calmer through-out the metro area. You mentioned the return was on a Monday, and I personally believe the morning of that day of the week is worse than others.

That is a logical route. Another alternative is the 405 south to the 110 north, then almost immediately you get on the 91 east.

As soon as you get in your car, tune the AM radio to 1070. They offer traffic updates every ten minutes on the "5's".

I would also choose the 10am landing, as traffic tends to be lighter mid-day. Rush hour starts at around 3-4pm everday, so the later landing can be more painful.

Definitely arrive at 10am, leave at 3:30. As already mentioned, traffic can be bad at ALL times but this would be your best bet in my opinion.

Good advice above. Allows for extra time to avoid rush hour traffic even if your incoming flight is late. And you have time to pick up and drop off a rental car. Temecula is an easy drive. SNA and ONT are both closer, with ONT being the easiest drive with least traffic, but LAX is not a bad drive.

the 91 can be backed up at random times during the day, but as ppl have mentioned the mid-day window will be best. also, have you checked SAN aside from SNA, ONT, and Long Beach? SAN is actually the shortest drive without traffic out of all of them.
