I will be staying in Arlington, VA for work this summer, 6 week stay. Can chose any hotel. Would any hotels status match like the airlines? Due to the length of stay, obviously lounge access would be nice. Are there any hotels that will offer immediate lounge access to status match plus tempt with length of stay???? Which hotel would one recommend?
cheers

Where in Arlington? Arlington is a pretty big city. Do you need access to metro?

And what chain do you already have status on to use or match to?

Where do you plan to redeem the points? What would the approximate per night spend be?

If it is a big per night spend, a SPG hotel with their current double/triple points promo might be good.

Otherwise Hyatt, where you could do the platinum challenge and register for their current 44k/66k promo (would be worth getting their card if you plan on doing this).

Was hoping for around $250 a night. What is the spg promo? On the website I see one valid until April but this stay will be June/July. Is there a different one?
Haven't heard of the Hyatt one? Is it on their website? I was using a mobile app so may have overlooked that promo.
Ideal point usage would be for somewhere in Bora Bora.
Cheers

Some chains have limits. I know you cannot accrue more than 100k pts per stay with hhonors (see below) so I would check into that depending on where you are staying. I am unsure about other programs.

Members may not accrue more than 100,000 Base Points during one stay, regardless of the amount of eligible folio charges, except for Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Qasr Al Sharq (a member of The Waldorf Astoria) hotels for which there is no cap.

I would also plan on checking out every Friday and re checkin Saturday. There is usually a 30 day limit, plus it will maximize point earnings.

Why not alternating hotels: one week with one hotel, the next with the other, then rinse and repeat.

I doubt you're as nuts as I am, but with three hotels of different chains relatively close to each other (if I remember correctly, there's a Hilton, Westin, and HI close by), and 30-business days to spare, I'd look into any challenges avilable.

i think you will be better off asking in each chain link. the most knowledgeable as to how to play the starwood game are posting in starwood, etc if you do starwood, for example, get a starwood amex card.

I had a friend come into town not too long ago. He stayed at the Westin "Gateway" which is in Ballston. Quite a nice place and right near the Ballston Metro.

There's a fairly new Westin (last 5 years or so) out in the Ballston section of Arlington which looks really nice. I'm an SPG Platinum, so I'm biased towards their properties (I think they have the best membership program). Plus, this hotel is a block away from the Ballston stop on the Orange Line of the Metro.
