Travel with Children - Any experience with UA F shoulder harness on toddlers?

First trip coming up in his own F suite (scored a saver award) but wondering how the mandatory F suite shoulder harness thing would work with a toddler. Would UA allow us to hold him on lap for TO and landing? Obviously shoulder harness would be pointless for a 2yo and I'd feel better holding him during TO and landing.

I can't answer your harness question but you absolutely will not be allowed to hold a 2 year old during take off and landing.

I'm not sure that I would have booked an F suite for a toddler in the first place. I'm not sure how comfortable that would be so far from Mom and Dad.

Not an issue, we have done this on other carriers without harnesses and he's a champ. My question is specific to the harness issue and how to secure a 2 yo in his own seat.

Children aren't safe in laps and it's not allowed once the child has passed his or her 2nd birthday. It's very strict on U.S. companies. You might "feel better" but it's more dangerous to hold him on your lap.

The adult seat belt doesn't fit toddlers very well and many easily escape. Hopefully you don't have a Houdini! Otherwise, you just put it on him, if it fits or not. It's not secure but your only option if you don't have a car seat.

You will not be allowed to hold your child during take on and landings. Just won't happen. As far as 'scoring' an F suite for the child......that may be negotiated at check in as the child will be out of range for you to fix on an oxygen mask if that becomes necessary.

Agree, you won't be allowed to hold during take off or landing. I don't know how large your child is, but will a CARES harness work?

Interesting point. Another reason not to have such a young child sitting so far from a parent. JMO.
