Middle East - Advice on Oman / Wadi Shab Needed

I would like to drive from Muscat to Wadi Shab. From my trusty LP book, I could not quite figure out whether a non-4WD vehicle is sufficient to make the trip? Also, how much time should I allow for the drive down?

It's motorway almost the whole way, apart from the last bit into the village, and Wadi Adai roadworks. Any car will do.
Depends what speed you drive at and where you start from in the Muscat area, so anything from 1.5 to 2 hours.
