.....which is a bit of a slap in the face for someone that will have spent about $3500 in the last 2 years and will get about $60 credit total for that loyalty! (zero in year one as had $1400 in flights) Not making me feel all warm and fuzzy about this at the moment.
PS - you need to fly within a certain timeframe after sign up to get the bonus.

I agree. The 350 Westjet dollars promotion with the RBC mastercard... now that was an incentive!
Overall though I think the best way to describe the WS Frequent Guest FFP is "pathetic", the only realistic way to accrue WS dollars is through the credit card..., the credit for flights purchased/flown is a joke. And none of the partner flying on AA or DL is eligible for WS dollars...
I know westjet wanted an FFP that was simple, I appreciate that. But they did that at the expense of making it competitive with the "other" option (Aeroplan). Indeed you don't have to worry if the WSflight booked is in a fare class eligible for FFP mileage... you don't have to worry because the WS$ credit earned on a flight is so negligible that it doesn't really matter!
Here's to hoping that 2012 is the year Westjet transforms the the Frequent Guest program into a competitive FFP..

At least anyone can understand the program, and how it works.
It also makes sure that people can't get more miles just for flying longer distances.
