I'll be arriving in HKG @6am, and have about 8 hours transit. Is there place to go for HKG food that morning outside airport? I was thinking of taking Airport Express to HKG station and wanders in IFC area.
Thanks

Not in the IFC complex, but many older and traditional tea houses open at 7 in and around Central. Including the pricey Luk Yu on Stanley St. By the time you get there, it should be 7 already.

I work in Wanchai so I know it better....but near IFC there are plenty right between Connaught and Queens there are quite a few open earlly..... just skip the Delifrance and similar chains...

you will never go hungry here... I usually hit Triple Os for breakfast when I am out early... not much of a congee guy....

I prefer traditional 'yum cha' breakfast - there are lots of places that open very early for leisurely breakfast. Two of the more 'popular' known places are:

Maxim’s City Hall is located at City Hall, 2nd fl. (Edinburgh Pl.), Hong Kong, Tel. +852 2521-130, www.maxims.hk

Victoria Seafood is located at 2nd floor, Sun Hung Kai Centre, 30 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Tel. +852 2827 9938

Hopefully others can recommend their favorite place.

Maxim's Palace @ City Hall isn't open in the morning.

For weekday Dim Sum brunch, harbor view without the huge crowds and long lines, one of my favorite is the Serenade in Kowloon side - part of the H.K. Cultural Centre complex along the waterfront, less than a 5 minutes leisure walk from the Star Ferry terminal in Tsimshatsui (TST) - and the so called Avenue of Stars.

It's open at 9 AM, perhaps a bit too late for OP for early arrival breakfast but could be nice for an early lunch after some walking around before heading back to MTR/AE station for trip back to airport.

OP could sample other goodies by 7:30 am in Central/island side, wander & then ride the Star Ferry, enjoy the (shrinking) Victoria Harbor view across, checkout nearby Nathan Road shops and stores, and walk back toward Salisbury Road to the Cultural Centre for classic, traditional Cantonese meal (one of the many restaurants branded under the Maxim's name)

If you want to try a dim sum place in Central, you may want to consider Luk Yu Tea House - here's it restuaurant info and openrice link:

I was in wenchai this morning and had dimsum based on recommendation on someone on the tram. She took me there but I don't know the name. It was open at 800.
