I rented a car at FLL to drive my parents to their vacation home. I was just going to leave the car with them, fly home and then go on a ski vacation rent a 2nd car while they still have the 1st car.

Has anyone ever tried renting 2 cars in the same name and had any issues? I have a backup reservation at Enterprise (assuming they arent linked to National)

TIA
fred

I believe this has been asked before, and the answer is yes. Search around a bit and someone asked this question, if I remember right the context was a short term rental in Place B while in the middle of a long term rental in Place A.

I rented 2 cars at the same time from Enterprise last year. The first one was for about 6 weeks while my car was being repaired and the other was for a week during the same window while on vacation in another state-no problems at all.
I guess that as long as they get paid, they don't care how many cars you rent!:)

The answer is yes - but be aware that unless your parents' driver's licenses have the same address as you, they are not automatically authorized drivers of the car - you'll need to register tham (and probably pay the additional driver(s) fee) if they plan on driving the car.

If you count on your credit card for insurance, it will only cover 1 car.

Thanks for the replies.

I dont have my parent registered. I could add him for $10/day (they have a different address) or make a new rental for my dad (with an early turn in for this rental). I made up a code (I'm not kidding) and got one of those really good rates so I dont know that I want to speak to them about adding a driver. I assume they will just print the bill like always when its turned in (no issues).

I researched the unauthorized driver thing and it looks like the renter assumes responsibility. If I just gave the car to my dad without adding him and he has an accident, I would be liable. Not sure his auto insurance would cover it if he's not listed as a driver, although how would this be different than him borrowing my own car (to his insurance company, not National)? Maybe I'll have him check with his insurance tomorrow.

Decided to turn in the car and get him a new rental
