I am travelling in 2 days with a 9 months old baby. I had an accident a week ago that hurt my back as well as my ankle so I am not able to move properly especialy with a baby and a big diaper bag. I requeated a wheelchair for my 24 hour trip from Asia to the US and then a connecting domestic flight. However, in Houston I will have to go through immg, claim my baggages, go through custom and re check in at Continental desk to catch my flight to Little Rock, all that and I have 2 hours only!

1- I am ready to double tip the wheelchair handler to help me to get my baggages but how is that possible for him to push me with a baby and a bag on my lap with one hand and 3 suitcases with another? How disabled people handle this situation?

I cant sleep just thinking how to get through this whole thing after 22 hour flight with a baby juat in time to catch my last flight...I panic even thinking about it:(:((

Last time I travelled, the pusher retrieved my bags. For some reason in Johannesburg they gave me two pushers - one for the wheelchair and one for the luggage trolley!

At MAN there was just one lady helping me but I managed to sit in the chair and guide the wheeled luggage ahead of me.

I'm sure there will be someone on hand to help a mum with a baby and a wheelchair.

The only time I needed help like that, the pusher got them for me. He pushed my chair and pulled a cart. That's hard to do, but he did it.

My husband needs a wheelchair when we travel and we always have that in his profile as well as call the airlines ahead of time to make sure that they will have someone there. I'm sure if you tell them your situation, they will provide 2 handlers.

Beware of Houston though...reconfirm the wheelchair with the stewardess onboard. Houston has a tendency to want to put you onto a cart. You need the personal attention of a handler to get you through immigration, etc. They'll get you right up front to a special line that will get you through.

Feel better.
