Swiss International Airlines - Help with PartnerPlusBenefit
Good day
I would appreciate some help with the above mentioned program.
As I am a small business owner and fly about 25,000 x 2 per year, can this program be beneficial to me?(besides not having to pay CC fees on swiss.com).
Also, can I earn points with my regular FFP (A3)? Is this double dipping?
And why is this program free?
Yes, PPB allows "double-dipping" and you can still earn regular FFP miles on the program of your choice.
I find that the rules of PPB are very restrictive however (only certain fare classes qualify, only tickets sold in CH are eligible if you're CH-based etc etc.) and the payout in the form of free tickets is minimal. But taking part can't do much harm.
However, I am confused as to why you think that PPB membership would exempt you form paying CC fees on swiss.com?

I thought it was an "Airplus" debit card!
Is it not?
It is not. PPB has nothing to do with payment, it is merely an incentive program. You register as many credit cards as you and all tickets bought through by your company through these cards are tracked and incentivized according to the program rules.
No exceptions from the non-optional payment charges.
Thanks.
So what is the Airplus?

Wow.
Never seen that before.
How'd you do it?
Let Me Google That For You (http://en.lmgtfy.com/?q=airplus)I thought exactly the same but I would not have been able to explain it quite as beautifully.

I find that PPB is very good for business to first upgrades. With my (Israel-based) PPB a/c I can upgrade from almost any economy class to business on LH and LX TLV-FRA/MUC/ZRH for 4000 PPB points per direction - and I earn nearly that much for each business class trip to Euope (espeically when they have double points promos.). So in effect, for each paid Z class trip (approx US$1400 all-in) I get a free upgrade Y to C, plus my regular miles (15,000 or so, enough for an upgrade one-way or flightsmart flight to Europe in Y).
With my (Israel-based) PPB a/c ...Note that the rules on eligible accumulation and redemption options within PPB are quite different from one country to the next. In most LH Group home markets (DE, AT, CH etc.) the program was "enhanced" a while ago and the value proposition deteriorated significantly.
It is my understanding that only tickets bought in the country where your PPB account is based are eligible - a frequent frustration for me as I buy ex-CH as well as ex-CA tickets.

Yep - agreed. BA changed their On Business program to allow all tickets to be credited, wherever purchased. I often have to weigh up the $50 TSC which is standard in Israel vs the benefit of PPB points. The ticket can originate anywhere, it just has to be issued locally. Sometimes YQ is lower for tickets issued here, which tips the balance and I get it issued here.

Correct, but one company can have multiple PPB accounts. We have one in Switzerland and one in Germany, for example.
