Hi guys,
I´m sure there could be a post similar to this somewhere in the Forum, but i just couldn´t find it and I still need to ask.
I´ll be flying EZE-MIA (AA 908) on Saturday 3/3, arriving at MIA on Sunday 3/4 at 6:40 AM local time.
I´m thinking of taking some days in NYC, and found a moderately priced non-stop flight leaving at 8AM (AA 1256).
Do I have to clear customs or can I transit MIA and do customs in JFK? If I do have to go through customs, can I make the connection? I believe so, but your expert advice is more than appreciated.
Just to add, there is another JFK-outbound flight at 11:30 at the same price, but I prefer the 8AM as I get some extra time in NYC.
Thanks!

Juan

You will need to clear customs at MIA and claim and recheck your bags if you are checking bags. This connection is too tight. There are several wide body flights arriving at MIA from South America in the early AM. Upon deplaning you will need to take a train and then walk a long, long way to customs.

Then you will need to clear Security again. Maybe buy an AC pass to shower and change and refresh. Have you looked at prices for flights to LGA in the mid morning?

Thanks! Great to know. I had the feeling that I could make it, but I guess I´ll be on the safer side if I take the 11:30AM flight.
I´ve looked at other non-stop options (JFK, EWR and LGA) but they are all more expensive.
Best,

Juan

I´ve looked at other non-stop options (JFK, EWR and LGA) but they are all more expensive. One of the reasons for this is that departures later in the day tend to carry more passengers flying home after a cruise. The earlier flights leave before many incoming sailers can get from the Port of Miami to the airport, therefore they tend to be less sold (hence cheaper fares).
