Le Club Accorhotels - Interesting "flaw" in A-Club tier system...

A friend of mine opened a number of accounts with A-Club during the 2,000 miles promotion they had some time back which meant that all his accounts were basic.

He then collected all points into one account so the balance came to over 10,000 and bang he got a Gold Card with the post.

He took out one voucher at 2,000 points (EUR 40), opened a new account got a few nights adding up to just above 2,000 points and transferred the balance of 8'000 from the old Gold account to the new basic account just before the expiry of the Gold tier account and the latest "newly opened" account became Gold.

I guess there is quite some work involved and you do need to maintain a highish balance for it to work, but it seems like the system at A-Club doesn't care about the initial date the points where accumulated as the transferal date is recorded as the actual earnings date (if it makes sense) which basically is incorrect...

Sorry... but I don't get the point. Why would someone need multiple accounts anyway? What's the usefulness of this "trick"?

(And besides, A-club Gold has no value anyway... ;))

Did you not read the very first line at all?

A friend of mine opened a number of accounts with A-Club during the 2,000 miles promotion they had some time back which meant that all his accounts were basic.

It's by no means hard at all to get Gold or Plat with A-Club based on all the silly promotions and free give-aways flourishing the net (including FT) so there is no trick (never have been) but rather a flaw in the dating of posted points by moving them around

Maybe to you Gold has no value, but it has gotten me some very nice upgrades (Sofitel) and rooms in general (Novotel & Mercure) at reasonable low prices around the world, so I'm not complaining.

At one point I did lose it with A-Club but I'm back and think I'll stay with them :)
