I am flying an AA award between HND-HNL on JAL or HA. I do not have any status with one world or HA. I plan to fly economy. If I was flying business I am very sure I would be flying on JAL but I do not have enough miles. Which airline should I choose on that route with two diiferent choices in economy? I have flown the A330 on HA before from the mainland and I remember the seats cushions were very hard on one flight and okay on another. I have not flown JAL in a while in economy as well as their 777.

I just flew this route myself on JAL in economy using AA miles. As I do not have status in Oneworld and as I have not flown JAL economy in years, I was not sure. I have flown this route many times on ANA in both economy and business. ANA and JAL offers a small snack on takeoff and a larger meal before arrival on their HND-HNL flights while the NRT-HNL offers a larger meal after takeoff and a smaller snack before arrival. I decided to take JAL because I thought it would be a better option than HA and it was. I thought the IFE, service, food, and everything would be better on JAL than HA. I have flown HA several times from Hawaii to the US mainland on their A330. I recall the seats cushions on the HA A330 is very hard. The business class seats are much better off on ANA or JAL than a HA A330 anyways. I also think HA charges for IFE while ANA and JAL offer it for free. If there is not much of a price difference I would take ANA or JAL on this route anyday.
