I am flying business class in April Bkk-Lhr and have a 14 hour wait between flights in Muscat. Oman Air are kindly providing me with a courtesy hotel.

Is there anyone who might be aware as to what hotel I will be given?

Many thanks.

your travel agent or Oman Air should be directly informing you about the allocation for the stay. Have you tried contact their local office?

Most probably the Golden Tulip which is very near to the Airport.

Thats the one i got. Built in 1984 and has not seen a single renovation since then. On the next morning the Hotel had no water. Really great if you want to have a shower and leave for the Airport.

Agreed. Found the staff at Golden Tulip jolly but the hotel rooms the condition of a roadside motor inn. Can't beat proximity to the airport though.

Stayed last month at the Golden Tulip whilst transiting to Salalah.
We had one of the recently refurbished rooms which was really quite good -International 3+star with good bathroom.Quiet, comfortable bed, tea&coffee facilities and a good nights sleep but do make sure you get a refurbished room, reviews on TripAdvisor of the older rooms are not good.

I have investigated further and it appears that Oman Air now own/run the Golden Tulip Muscat so no doubt I will be staying there.

Common sense would suggest that they would give their biz class passengers one of the nicer renovated rooms, but we shall see.

call them and verify it with them, otherwise no one would be blamed at their side for not remembering to accommodate you.

Contact them by all means but expect nothing..see my recent post.

Remember to accomodate you? Well I have to :)...they couldn't even do the basics and remember to contact me at their personally owned stopover hotel in Muscat regarding a same day change to our flights for which I already held the boarding cards.

An absolute disgrace IMO. I could put a fancy dress Oman Air uniform on my 4year old and she could do a better job...again IMHO of course...

i talked to omanair in bkk and they arranged the pick-up in muscat , was met by the transferdesk and escorted to immigration and then the driver of the limosine was waiting to bring me to the golden tulip hotel.after landing i was in the hotel in 38 min.
they got me a deluxe room and its, was not new but did not smell at all. room was allready nice and cold, because the airconditiong was allready running. also a nice breakfast was included.
back to airport was in a very old minibus.
went to the firstclass lounge and when it was time for boarding they escorted me downstairs where a audi a8 was waiting to bring me to the plane.at frankfurt was i again meet by groundstaff and with a golf cart ,went to immigration and then to the luggage area, from there they braught me to outside to bring me to my driver.

Ah maybe my complaint to them is already making a difference :p

No seriously maybe I was unlucky in Oman, maybe it was just a very, very bad day for Oman Air ground staff that ultimately gave me my worst flying experience ever.

Coincidently I also arranged my transfer in person at the Bkk office in Silom Road. Service with Oman in Bkk was excellent. On my outward flight arrival at Suvarnabhumi I was escorted all the way from the plane through immigration, they helped me with my luggage at the belt and then took me directly to the waiting limo. On my return limo transfers were handled impeccably including two confirmation calls to my hotel. The lounge staff were great with my daughter and I could not have hoped for more. Oman staff around the world should model themselves on these guys :) ^

I have to say that in my case Oman Air have been very good in London and Bangkok....it's just at home in Oman that I have received unacceptable bad service.

Do you live in or near Cairo?

Your best bet would be to visit Oman Airs Cairo office and try to confirm your hotel.

Address:- 1191 Corniche El Nile, World trade center Main Office Tower, 16th Floor.

If you get no joy in Cairo then on arrival in Muscat proceed to the Oman Air transit desk where I'm pretty sure (although not guaranteed!) they will give you a complimentary hotel for your stopover.

When I was queing on a pre arranged hotel booking I heard a number of walk up passengers asking if they had to pay anything for their hotels .No charge was made in their case.

Good luck.

I'm flying with Oman Air soon and there's a 14hr layover in Muscat. When I looked at my ticket on the SABRE system it states I have a hotel booked and in brackets it says Wyndham Hotels but no other details. The only Wyndham hotel I could find in Muscat is the Ramada. It would be very nice if I could stay in the Ramada and I hope that's the case.

Oh dear,oh dear,oh dear...that is exactly what was showing on my booking....the rest is history as they say...but will not be easily forgotten in my case...:(

Good luck .. I hope there has now been an internal review regarding their short comings and you do not suffer what I had to ^
