Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Going apart, returning together: How to book?

My significant other and I are going to Paris. He is going to be going ahead of me by one week but we want to return together & especially be seated together. Having pounded the virtual pavement on the various booking sites we have somewhat decided on a set of Air France flights. My question: What's the best way to book?

Ideally we would like to pay separately but have the PNRs linked so that they know we're traveling together on the return leg. Alternately one of us could pay for the tickets if that makes it easier - although it'd be great if the booking site takes PayPal.

Any ideas on the best way to accomplish this? Should we just call Air France and pay the (I assume) fee for talking to a human? Go through an agent?

Thanks for any advice!

Just book two separate tickets. Make sure the return flight is the same for both of you and choose seats next to each other.

But if there is an equipment change or other problem we could get split up and we REALLY want to sit together on the flight back. It's one of the points of the trip.

I called Air France and they said they could book it and even waive the fee. Nice.

I am sure this is a word choice thing, but if one of the points of the trip was to sit next to each other for 6+ hours, save the cash, and buy two folding chairs!

All kidding aside, I am glad AF was able to do this for you at no charge.

Alternatively you could have priced out three seperate tickets. His outbound, your outbound, then a ticket for two inbound.
