Do they offer it under any circumstances?
No one can say that they would never offer status match. Based of the posts on this forum however no-one has ever gotten matched.
But why ask for it when it only takes you 20K miles to earn it?

You want A3 to openly let you rape and pillage them? It's not enough you can get STARGold for the fewest number of flight miles...now you want them to give it to you for nothing?!
Perhaps if you were moving to Greece and becoming a resident, they might consider a status match, but then if you already had STARGold why would you need it. You can start to earn your miles in the program while using your existing status to get the benefits.

RBI have! After having been downgraded to FB silver from platinum when I switched alliances, I was matched to FB gold last year. Gold members from other *A programmes were matched to platinum, perhaps reflecting the low threshold of M&B.

I got it matched to Kingfisher Airlines King Club.
However, since they will cease operation in the next few months (completely bankrupt), probably won't make a difference.
