I'm seriously considering Maldives for my Honeymoon in July this year (2012). How is the weather in July? I know it's around the wet season, but have you been there? Would it be ugly with rains all the time?

I spent a week scuba diving in the Maldives this past August (2011), lived on-board a boat. Weather and water were fine, sunny and warm. There was an occasional shower that would pass through, but they weren't long-lasting.

Since this topic is specific to one area region, we'll shift this over to the Asia forum. Thanks! :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

OP: You may also want to search the Asia forum for threads containing "Maldives" in the title. There may be some tidbits there that will help you with your planning. :)

I have not been there in July, but we experienced a bit of rain when we were there at another point of time, and I really must say that it is NOTHING to do when it rains there, meaning it feels like one hour of rain is like a whole day. At other destinations, one can go shopping or sightseeing or take a walk even in bad weather, but at a Maldive island, everything is about sun and beach and water, meaning that I would really chose a time of year where good weather can be expected.

Haven't been there in July, but I wouldn't risk it for a honeymoon. From what I've read the chances are you'd get sunny weather or some clouds with cloudbursts. Either of those scenarios would be fine. But there is a smaller chance that you'd get days of rain at a time, which as Musken points out would be a real drag.

Also, see the thread I just started in this forum re the president being deposed there.
