I applied, but there's a wait list :( I wish I had applied sooner, but hopefully they will need more people.

The FAQ says they only take only take people with good German. I wouldn't say my German's great, hopefully though I don't have to interact with anyone until I show up :) I'm sure I can muddle through.

Oh the possibilities! Nice chance to be someone else for day. :p

Todays FTD has a photo of people wearing green plastic helmets (after all its a construction area still) queing up before checkin counters still covered with plastic foil on which destinations like USA, China are written. Funny!

When I took part in the trials for Dublin Airport T2, I was issued an Etihad boarding pass to Abu Dhabi in the name of Mr. George Michael.

No - but I got a lot of joshing from the guys at the security check! It was in September 2010, when he was in the news for beginning his prison sentence for drug-driving.

So, they don't plan to have any non-German speaking employees when it opens??? Come on, what kind of test is it when it requires pax speak German?

I got an invite to do emergency prep testing, they're simulating an aircraft accident. I didn't register because it had a really long prep meeting, and I figured my weak-ish German wouldn't cut it. But, it would seem like a good idea to make sure the emergency workers can deal with non-German speakers. I think that changes the dynamic a little bit when dealing with an accident.

And even simple things like making sure the airport signs are clear and it's easy to navigate check-in/security/immigration/baggage claim/etc.
