KLM Flying Dutchman - Is 50 minutes enough time?
The KLM site is showing a good flight from Geneva to San Francisco via Amsterdam but the connection time at Amsterdam is only 50 minutes.
Presuming everything is on time and I'll be travelling with hand luggage only would this transfer time be enough?
If the first leg is delayed a bit will the AMS - SFO flight wait for short while?
Thanks

It certainly is possible. Only problem is the Polderbaan and a remote stand. I got that a couple of times out of GVA and I arrived in the terminal 15 after STA.
Best way to avoid this is by booking a non-Cityhopper flight. So a 737. No remote stand hopefully.
Transfer in AMS is very easy, certainly with hand luggage only. Very small chance the SFO flight will wait unless there are a significant of other delayed PAX. Should you miss it, KLM will rebook you onto the next available flight. Probably on Delta connecting in DTW/JFK/MEM.
But isn't there an earlier flight out of GVA? There are plenty I'm sure.

You need to be a regular visitor to AMS (and/or this Forum) to make sense of any of the above.
The OP doesn't sound like a regular, so one needs to explain that Polderbaan is the name of the runway that's furthest from the Terminal (about 15 minutes away)

What is one supposed to do if the only flight that is available is a Cityhopper flight?
But the OP needn't worry here because the early morning GVA-AMS flight is operated by a 737 so he should arrive at a gate and not a remote stand.

West Coast flights tend to leave early in the morning. The only GVA flight that connects with the SFO flight is the first one of the day.

Although the Polderbaan feels like a very long taxi: if a flight departs on time, or with a 15 minute delay or so you will still arrive at the gate at or before the scheduled arrival time, even if they use the Polderbaan. The Polderbaan will only create extra delay if the flight leaves with more than a little delay.
It's not a comfortable connection time, but it's much more likely you'll make it than not. They will wait a little if there are a lot of passengers connecting. If you're the only one it's unlikely they'll wait. (as harsh as it sounds its probably simple economics they apply wether they decide to wait or not).
Note that you will be able to use the short connection lane at security and passport check, so look for it when you get there.

I'm new here (obviously), but I'm booking MSP-AMS-BER via DL/KLM, and I have the option of a 90 minute layover in AMS - but since I'll be coming from the US, do you think that's sufficient, even with the shorter connection lanes? And if I miss it, what chance do I have of getting on the next flight to BER that leaves 3 hours later?
And the AMS-BER flights are not Cityhoppers - only the early one is.
thanks much!

Absolutely enough time! You clear passport control and security check when going from the Non-Schengen lounge to the Schengen-lounge. Mind that you do that within the terminal so NOT go to regular passport control/baggage claim.
Should you miss your flight, KLM will automatically rebook you on the next available flight. You can also check that yourself at the self service kiosk at the transfer desks I believe.

Thanks! I just hope there aren't any evacuations like there were today...
