India - Going to India (Mumbai) some questions

Hi all,

I am going to Mumbai and wanted to know if its ok to carry a Macbook laptop and ipad both are personal and a camera.

Do I need to declare these, are customs ok with me taking these items?

I am also looking for domestic flight experiences. Looked at some comparison sites and it shows Indigo and spicejet having the lowest fees. Visiting India after a long time so no idea about these airlines.

I will be accompanied by my mother who is handicapped and will need wheelchair. the flight domestically will be from Mumbai - Guwahati.

Any suggestions would be great.

you posted the same question in the 'airlines of india' forum....have answered your question there....

If you are taking these back with you to the states there's no issue with bringing them into India. If you are importing them as gifts you will be stuck with the duty.

I am planning to will bring back only the macbook not the camera or ipad. but if its a hassle then I guess I won't.

Only if they BY any chance write it in you passport then you will have to take it back if not just leave it there. They really dont care these days for European and US flights.
Its Middle eastern and south east Asia flights that really go thru a little heavier checking. 99% of the time you will be asked nothing just take your bags and go out.
