Hi Everyone

As we get a lot of questions asked about lounge access not only in Australia but codeshare rules at different airports, I thought it would be good if we could have all that information in one thread to help people to access the info easily and simply.

If all members could please post relevant information to lounges they have accessed as part of their Velocity membership, inc Terminal info, Hours, Facilities, Additional benefits, Tips and Hints or any general information that can assist fellow travellers....it would be fantastic.
Please let me know also if any of the info I've posted below is incorrect

Australian Domestic Lounges: All open 45 mins-1 Hour before 1st Flight of Day and close when last flight of the day is boarding. Open 7 Days a week.

Domestic Lounge available for the following PAX:
Silver (2 comp passes per year only)
Gold plus 1 guest
Platinum plus 3 guests
Business Class

Entry to the Virgin Australia lounge

Located at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Mackay and Gold Coast domestic airports, the Virgin Australia lounge is open seven days a week – from 45 minutes prior to our first flight departure, until our last flight is called for boarding.

Virgin Australia international long haul Business Class guests and Velocity Platinum and Gold Members can access selected international airport lounge locations operated by airline partners when travelling internationally.

Thanks for this definitive thread. Question: Do DJ insist on seeing a boarding pass for WP? Have a friend flying back to MEL on Sunday and wanted to guest them in at SYD T2. I know the QFlink lounge just allow you to flash your card for entry.

Great work Jinxy!

A few minor things:

Possibly worth clarifying which lounges are for Lounge members (VA domestic, Air NZ trans tasman and domestic) and which are for Gold/ Plat (most of the others)

I'm not sure the information at the bottom about VA international short haul ex Wellington and Christchurch isn't out of date. When i flew out of CHC recently it was the Air NZ lounge.

As some of us have access to the names of The Lounge Managers for pre-arrival issues, it might be handy to include them.

A lot of us know the BNE (or more correctly BNE & MKY) Lounge Goddess, Annette

There is no lounge for VX guests AFAIK as VX do not have a lounge of their own (you may be able to buy lounge access to the VS clubhouse but i have never looked into it). There is only lounge access for Delta on this route.

On the Virgin America web site there's a link for the airport lounge & clubhouse (http://virginamerica.com/travel/airport-lounge.html) which if you select JFK talks about a $35 charge.

Just wondering if the charge applies to GOLD/PLATINUM members or business class ticket holders connecting the VA flight out of LAX?

Can anyone shed light on this?

If you are on VA flight LAX-Australia you can use the "temporary" VA lounge in the old Alaska airlines board room. It is, by all reports, totally rubbish as it currently has no liquor license among other issues. I have no idea how long this situation will last but it is free.

IF you are talking about travelling via LAX on a VX service there is no lounge access at all.

It appears to be both a domestic and international lounge. The lady at premium check-in told me on check-in that I can use the lounge and that an announcement would be made on the flight to AKL so that we could have enough time to clear customs. Flights to New Zealand were up on the departures and arrivals boards as well in the lounge.

Sorry i thought it was a different question. As i said above, as neither VA nor VX control the VS lounge so it's paid access only.

Reading a review of the Virgin Atlantic JFK Club House (http://www.ausbt.com.au/virgin-atlantic-jfk-clubhouse-the-best-lounge-in-the-usa) it mentions the following access conditions:

You're allowed into the Clubhouse if you have:
•A Virgin Atlantic Upper Class ticket
•A Virgin Atlantic Gold frequent flyer card and are flying on Virgin Atlantic
•A Virgin America First Class Ticket
•A Virgin America Main Cabin Select (first row of economy) ticket and will pay a surcharge
•A Virgin Atlantic ticket and a Virgin Australia Gold or Platinum frequent flyer card
•A Singapore Airlines First/Suites Class ticket
•A Singapore Airlines PPS card and are flying on Singapore Airlines
•A TAM first or business class ticket

As per my highlighting above, this would suggest that if you're flying on a VA business class ticket from JFK to SYD via LAX travelling in First Class on Virgin America (doesn't have business class) for the JFK to LAX sector then you would get access to the JFK Virgin Atlantic Lounge.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

That's good to know.

The JFK Club Lounge has gotten quite a good review and I look forward to experiencing it. I'm sure it's a whole lot better than the UA Red Carpet Club that I used to frequent in Terminal 7 before flying back to Sydney:p

Well the upshot to my posting was that I was refused entry to the JFK Clubhouse this evening:mad:

I was holding a Virgin America First Class Boarding pass (Seat 2A) for Flt VX413 to LAX with an onward boarding pass for VA2 in business class. I even showed my Velocity Platinum card.

I think VA needs to clarify the access rules for premium ticketed passengers flying JFK-LAX-SYD on VX/VA.

Maybe next time I'll book the Delta code share option on the VA web site and that way I'll know for sure I can lounge access at JFK. The other advantage with the Delta code-share option booked on the VA website is that because it's a VA flight number it will count as an Eligible Sector whereas the VX flight doesn't.

There would seem there's still a lot of work to be done on the VA/VX/VS partnering arrangement

You will have no issue accessing the ANZ lounge by virtue of your cabin class. I can't confirm whether the lounge has showers but I assume it does. Of the three ANZ Lounges sydney is the largest and most likely to have the best facilities.

I'm not sure about the arrivals access in Bali. I'd guess not - I certainly wouldn't expect to.

SYD Koru Lounge has showers, yes. Excellent booze and food as well. Gets crowded around the UA departure times.

I've performed searches and cannot find an answer to my question. I'm flying LAX-BNE-PQQ on a DL award, bizclass transpac and economy BNE-PQQ, no bizclass on that aircraft (ATR72). No status.

When arriving BNE, I understand I will transfer to the domestic terminal and there is a VA lounge there. Where can I take a shower on arrival, is there an arrival lounge with showers? And I assume I will be able to access the VA domestic lounge, is that correct?

However, I am not sure about access to the lounge - the inbound J ticket may help.

I guess you can only pleasantly ask (showing both your VA BP's).
