Delta SkyMiles - Strange things with 757 - 75X to 75Z seat assignments this morning

See 1519 ATL-DEN on 9 FEB and 2054 LAX-ATL on 5 JUL. It looks like there are all open seats (including F) when you look at expertflyer and then try to book on dl.com. However when going into my trips the seats still show as being occupied. Is this a new configuration 75Z issue? Anyone else seeing this on their itineraries? Previous aircraft ATL-DEN was 75X.

Yes ExperFlyer does not appear to match Delta dot com and Delta dot com does not appear to match recent seating status.

As an example, flight DL 2329 on February 10 departing ATL and arriving SEA is without availability from row 29-44 and with availability row 21-28. Ironically the seating chart on Delta also indicates the booked seat is available.

Chances are very good they will have rolled out domestic Economy Comfort by July 5, with reservability weeks or months before that. Couple that with adding F seats to the 757-200s and the swaps between domestic and international versions, and the result is a great mystery still fully five months out. Anybody want to revert to the old NW practice of prohibiting seat assignments more than ~90 days in advance?

that really wasn't the dumbest idea ever........

unless it's a long-standing international route, i put no stock in the equipment listed for a flight months out anyway. having to schedule myself to get seats 90 days out on trips booked way in advance was slightly annoying, but it also saved me the obsessive seatmap checks for those first few months i held those tickets.

(i've got thanksgiving already booked over on * on PMCO aircraft -- i'll be watching those for a looooong time, waiting for the PMUA swaps as the 737's move to DEN...)

i've seen inconsistencies between delta and EF before. usually they're on blocked seats, like narrowbody bulkheads -- delta will show them unavailable, EF will show them available. but that ATL-DEN flight on thursday is definitely weird. is delta really blocking every non-elite economy seat on the entire plane?

I wouldn't mind. It could save a lot of hassle when dealing with the far in advance schedule changes.
