Alitalia MilleMiglia - AZ 678 to GRU

While surfing through AZ's website I noticed that it operates 8 weekly flights to GRU, with the extra flight being AZ 678. What's the purpose of having 1 daily flights to GRU and only on Sundays having 2 daily flights? Is it that on that day there is more demand? Thanks for clearing this up.

The extra frequency has been on a Thursday or Friday before, so I think it's just a way to use a plane which would otherwise be still for a day. If only AZ had more long haul planes, there might be a 10xw or more on this route!
