Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs - Transfer time at Changi Singapore (to budget terminal)

The missus is flying into Singapore on Lufthansa LH790 in a few days. The flight arrives at 4:50 pm and she has 2 hours 40 minutes to catch a plane from the budget terminal by Jetstar to Vietnam.

According to the Changi website PAX should estimate at least 4 hours to connect from T1/2/3 to budget terminal. This to account for immigration, claiming luggage and taking the shuttle bus from Terminal 2 to Budget.

How likely is it that she will connect to her flight? I understand the margins are slim and there's the unknowns like delayed inbound plane, immigration issues and such. But if everything runs smoothly, is 2:40 sufficient?

Are there any mitigating actions that can cut the connection time, for instance will taking a cab be a quicker way to move between the terminals? Is there a way to expedite the waiting time for immigration?

2 1/2 hours should be plenty of time, assuming the inbound flight is not delayed. Immigration lines are well-staffed, though I have seen long delays for lines with single female travelers who need their documents and travel plans verified (human trafficking concerns?).

The bus system between terminals is pretty efficient, that shouldn't be a problem. Some budget airlines will close the check-in counters 45 minutes before departure, though, which might be a problem for checking in luggage if she's running late.

Jetstar does NOT depart from the budget terminal. It departs from T1.

There will be Jetstar staff airside at Transfer C to assit connecting passengers.

If she is travelling with luggage, and LH can check it through to Vietnam, then she can just connect airside (Highly unlikely)

If she is travelling with luggage, and LH cannot check it through, then she has to go through immigration and reclaim it and check it in again. 2hr40mins is more than enough.

If she is travelling without luggage, she can just go straight to transfer C and see if Jetstar can sort i out.

Note that she has to take the complimentary Skytrain from T2 (Where LH arrives to T1)

The only carriers that use the Budget Terminal are Cebu Pacific, Tiger Airways and Firefly I believe.

This is true. However it'd be good for the OP to check and confirm the airline - the other budget airline to fly to Vietnam, Tiger, DOES depart from the budget terminal.

Hence the post with reference to Jetstar.

Not sure why the OP mentioned budget terminal.

I'd simply wondered if the OP had just got the wrong airline, given how much research there was about the budget terminal. But 3K's flight is at 1930 (TR's is at 1945) which fits the timing, so it seems not.

OP here. The flight is by Jetstar Asia and departs from terminal 1. I (wrongly) assumed Jetstar Asia would depart from the budget terminal. I guess it could be the airline's link to Qantas that makes it better to operate from Terminal 1.

Lufthansa does not have an luggage agreement with Jetstar Asia in Singapore so the missus have to check in the luggage again in Singapore. 2,5 hours transfer time is hopefully be enough, and if not we have an contingency plan.

Thanks a lot for your replies and concerns. I'm not sure when we would have figured out the terminal misunderstanding if it wasn't for your input.
