Travel Photography - Documenting one's travels

OK I appologize in advance if there is a thread on this. Could not find one. I assume most on here document their travels by photography- that has to be a given.

I personally am trying to get a photograph of EVERY - State Line or "Welcome to State xy". I then post them on my Facebook page. I am a few missing and am at the moment planning my trips to get all these photos. Need WA,OR and Washington DC at the moment and digital ones (already have hard copies and yes I know I could scan them in and make electronic) of NE/IA/OK/MO/KS.

What about yourselves?

Wow- thanks for posting that photo. As you say not very impressive at all.

So I now just need digital photographs of the following state line signs. TX - should get tomorrow morning driving to ELP airport. After that need CO, ID, WA, OR. I already have a trip booked in June IND-SLC-MSO then LWS-SLC-IND to get ID/WA/OR. So will be down to just CO. Thinking of flying into DEN on a Friday night on WN out of IND, then getting a Great Lakes flight to Cheyenne, hiring a car and driving back to the state line to photograph, the overninght in WY, and then flight back to DEN following morning and WN back to IND.

I love taking pictures of highway signs and welcome to ones are definitely my favorite. In fact, my phone background is currently a welcome to Virginia sign I photographed at Virgilina, VA.

That looks like it is taken on 1-75 just after the TN state line approaching Ringold and Dalton, GA

What do you mean - photograph - you are now in Cheshire, Lancashire etc?

Actually, this was taken in I-95 just after crossing into Georgia heading north by Brunswick. I drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Raleigh, NC and got some great sign pics.

Great idea to collect "Welcome to Our State" signs. However, why limit it to states?

Think Global. Start with everyone's favorite Welcome to the World sign. :D

do you folks geotag your pics? I've been doing that with mine and it's great to look at them, then go to the map location where I took the photo. I use Adobe lightroom, but a lot of other pic viewers do the same.

A lot of smart phones automatically geotag, but my dumb Canon T2i does not so I use software to do it. It is great fun!

When I want to geotag photos, I use an app on my phone to record my route, and then import that route to my laptop. My geotagging software (gPicSync) can match photos to locations on the route based on the time the photo was taken. Just make sure you synchronize your phone's clock with your camera's.
