Hotels are taking note of the debate over childhood obesity.

Fairmont Hotels this year will implement a new children's menu with healthier food options.

They will swap out refined flour for whole wheat, add more fruits and vegetables, and use healthier cooking methods (yes, less frying).

The changes won't be made until March, but already some hotels are starting to promote healthier nutrition practices among kids.

That's a waste of time in the most obese nation (USA) in the world.

They'd make more money by introducing a children's Fudge menu. Seriously. USA has spoken: they want their food. They are so free, they trap themsevles in their own bodies

IMHO this initiative dovetails perfectly with the larger Fairmont image embracing planet and guest healthy programs such as bikes for guest use, Fairmont Fit, free parking for "green" vehicles, etc. Building the brand into one perceived to be health concious is to me good brand positioing as it's perception and not reality people are buying.
