Flying Blue (Air France, KLM, and Other Partners) - New Flying Blue/KLM/Air France web pages

On airfrance.com and klm.com (and presumably all the other sites) you can see a new web page that seems to be more personalized.

Tonight -1st to 2nd February - Air France - KLM will implement worldwide a joint web product: My Account.

With My Account, you will have the possibility to create your personal account for free to enjoy personal space on airfrance.com and KLM.com.

-Personalized home page with special nominative welcome
-Enhanced and more instinctive navigation thanks to direct access to bookings. This permits visualisation, modification, check-in... in one click.
-Possibility for you to store exhaustive data on your profile, including payment data and passport.
-Prefill of all our on-line services that require data saved your profile.

If you are Flying Blue member, you directly benefit from those new functionalities.

One cool thing I noticed right away. Now if you log into KLM.com, and then navigate to airfrance.com, it keeps you logged in. Finally, a bit of coordination!

The lay-out of the KLM webpage has actually changed. Looks nice.

The Dutch website also changed. Looks OK, but I noticed that the login area is gone from the home page (have to click "login" first) and after login some of the quick links are gone (e.g. check miles balance).
Also under "next flight" it shows a flight I completed two weeks ago.
The link to claim missing miles doesn't work: it takes me back to login and the standard screen.

Just a few glitches I noticed after spending 1 minute on the site...

Couldn't log in via klm.nl, but could via klm.co.za.

However, clicking on "Mileage Summary" brought me to an Air France page requesting me to sign in to "Mon Espace" en français. I duly did so, and was presented with a nice white page with scroll bars at the bottom and the side, so that I could view the other bits of whiteness that could not be shown immediately.

At least KLM have got rid of the grating "Milage Summary" on the top of that page -but to make up for that spelling correction, they've included "Usefull Links" on the main FB page.

But I do like the new Mileage Summary page, when you do get it to display. No longer are your account movements shown strictly by calendar month - you can view based on a number of criteria, including selecting a period, which for me appears to work as far back as September 2010.

KLM are currently engaged in an attempt to extract more cash from me, by piquing my interest with a series of banner and sidebar adverts here on Flyertalk, advertising undefined fares to undefined locations.

Those 'new' cards have the old AirFrance logo on them  but that box pattern matches the one on the header on the redesigned website, so it looks like the cards will be getting a new design.

And the "print a copy of my card" does not have an expiry date on it

12months late, but finally here :)

Mokshu, you and the people who have worked on this must certainly feel relieved and proud to have gotten this out. I can just imagine that making changes to AFKL's IT isn't always simple, that must be a convoluted dinosaur system and the work of the IT guys probably often slowed down by budget constraints (especially now).

I like the design which is getting easier on the eye and on the orientation every time the site is redone, a little less the layout (OK, AF wants to show me their adverts in the middle of the page where I'd rather prefer "Mon compte Flying Blue"), and some of the functionalities are really good, for instance the overview of reservations.

Still, a 13th month could have benefited this initiative. As it is, it is in a way typically Air France: bugged/not properly tested, and "form trumps functionality" (=it's a French thing where as long as something looks good it doesn't matter how or if it works). But rather than sounding too critical I want to report back some of the things that I, the beta tester in live mode, have come across:

Overview of reservations contains "dossiers" where all flights have already been done
Some other dossiers also with all flights flown are not shown, although they happened after the date for the previous flight. Any logic?
There are reservations which show with their original dates, prior to re-booking
There are some reservations which show up correctly. Which is actually irritating as without knowing from another source what is correct and what not I cannot tell from the overview on the website
When clicking on them the results are different: sometimes the reservation shows, sometimes nothing, sometimes it just back to the overview screen...
When then clicking on the main AF logo to return to the home page there often is a "dead end"/crash of the site
In the "view my mileage account" view there is either a bug or it's badly through through, but there seems to be no possiblitiy to look at previous years' transactions
Also in mileage account view, it is unclear how to specify the period which should be displayed. There is no pop up calendar and the format that is understood isn't shown.
Another bug, though I believe that one is around since many years: it shows that I am Plat for life "since 2005" (which is wrong, I am only since 2010-2011), and underneath it says that I am Platinum since 0 years. Odd. But it doesn't matter any way

And in the "looks good but is not practical to use":

When showing overview of reservations, do not show dates for first leg if that is in the past. Show date of next leg
In reservations overview, bravo for keeping it uncluttered, but I'd appreciate three letters more saying "Paris CDG" or "Paris ORY" instead of just "Paris". Mostly obvious, but for "Paris-Nice", is that my flight leaving from ORY or CDG?
Why is it that for some dossiers I can modify seat assignments, for other I cannot (same flight on same route, different dates)
I like the "preferred airport" in my profile, but why is there only a choice between ORY and CDG? You guys got it th wrong way around: when I am *looking* for a flight I might be open between the two, thus want to have "Paris (toutes escales)". However, in the ovreview of upcoming flights I would like to know straight away whether it's CDG or ORY

I see that the rest hasn't changed, so I guess it's still an overall unstable site, huge problems with OLCI, a only partly working reservation engine (difficulties with kids, seniors, other Skyteam member FFP cards), a non-intuitive layout and content hierarchy, overcomplex structure (the number of clicks it takes to figure out whether all flights between two cities are on time that day - amazing...), no functionality to export reservation data to calendars or to have a printer-formatted output - or have these things been addressed?

The Dutch website also changed. Looks OK, but I noticed that the login area is gone from the home page (have to click "login" first) and after loginSeems very buggy, I can't even log in. Clicking on login took me to jumbled page where I could enter my FB# and PIN, after which I got this:

{ "myaActions" : [ { "closeLightbox" : true } , { "publishEvent" : { "eventName" : "mya.login" ,"eventArguments" : {"title" : "Mr", "firstName" : "JOHAN", "lastName" : "REBEL", "accountType" : "FP"} }} ]}

There are also some "Usefull" (sic) links :D (at least on the .us page)

Also, if I click on "Mileage Summary" just after I log in, it brings me to a page with an embedded window asking me to log in (???). Oh and it's in French. Clicking through "My profile" on the top though does the trick.

Also, the partners pages, which look like they were designed in the 1980s (and probably were...) have not changed.

I don't get it, why can't airlines put out all the information in a simple, user-friendly format? One of my favourite pages is the BD airline partners earnings page. All the info you need, on one page: http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loyalty-programmes/diamond-club/how-to-earn-miles/flights.aspx

Indeed, the lost my card section doesn't mention the expiry date!
And also, the order of names have changed with me. It's now: titel - lastname- first name. And instead of 'dhr.' it is now 'M.', or is that because it redirects you to the FR site?

EDIT: pressing the print button ends in a dead page  .

1. I can't log in at airfrance.fr, but I can log in at airfrance.us. And I can log into klm.com. airfrance.fr says there is no such record of my account.

2. I was able to do OLCI, but later I went to klm.com to print out the BP, and the link that says "print boarding pass" doesn't work. Error 404.

3. I was able to print my BP from airfrance.us, however the part about sending it to my mobile phone was greyed out. This is for CDG-ATL and I sure hope they don't have a silly policy about mobile BP's for flights to the US? BA supports mobile BP's to the US so there shouldn't be any policy or security issues. I also tried the AF Iphone app and got the same result.

One cool thing I noticed right away. Now if you log into KLM.com, and then navigate to airfrance.com, it keeps you logged in. Finally, a bit of coordination!

Too bad the KLM.com website has now lost all functionality for me, as I can only access my Flying Blue homepage and no other page on KLM.com at all when logged in. Your reservations
We have no live reservation on file for the information submitted

This service allows you to:

modify the date and times of your flight as well as your itinerary
change your travel class for more comfort and personalized services
provide us with the regulatory information required for entry into your destination country
provide us with your phone numbers and e-mail address so that we can keep you informed of any changes to your trip
change or add preferences (seat, meal)
consult our travel tips to best prepare your trip
submit a ticket refund request
Request a ticket refund in case of extenuating circumstances.
request the reissue of your trip summary.

Please note: if you are already checked in, you must cancel your check-in before being able to modify your reservation.

Also it is a bit (=read very) misleading that when e.g. I'm logging into my account it is clearly showing what tier I'm at (Gold) on the right but shows two silver cards next to my miles etc... Here it also states that I'm Gold...

This is all from the .ch site... Will try others and see if the same problem persists with the "missing bookings"

As said by brunos: So many bugs and mistakes! Can't they do a beta testing first. I couldn't agree more... It seems not very thought through tbh, but the idea is okish

Well mine were not correct on the old web site and remain wrong on the new one. For reasons I don't understand I only see the first five segments of a now seven segment booking. This booking is on KLM ticket stock. Previously it correctly showed one TG followed by 4 KL legs, but omitted the final TG leg.

Due to schedule changes the booking changed to SG followed by 4 KL, which correctly appeared on the web site, but the final TG leg still wasn't there. The next change replaced the final TG leg by 2 SQ legs, but they did not appear.

Nothing beyond the first 5 legs has ever showed on the KLM web site, while they have always correctly appeared on viewtrip.

Similar problems here now. When I log in the personal portal page appears. In the middle it says "manage your upcoming trips", and then lists one flight with a departure date of November 18, 2011 and another one with departure date of December, 2011. When I the click on "my reservations" I can not see the reservations that were proposed previously to be managed, but two other reservations. One really has a departure date in the future, another one shows January 3, 2012 as departure date but I know that there is a return leg that is indeed in the future. However why it shows only the first leg is a design error, not a bug. So from seven or eight reservations that were shown some days ago I am now down from the past in the "future reservations" entry and to two different ones in the "all my reservations" entry.

Furthermore there is a bug in the management of travel companions. When I add them their FB number suddenly has two leading zeros added. When I want to confirm the changes I get an error message that the FB number has too many digits

And I keep on having the error that pre-recorded travel companions' details cannot be used to auto-fill traveler details in a booking. Only some fill, others not, but it's not clear according to which patterns.

Do I get some miles in my FB account for being a beta tester? Seriously, whilst I have never come across any airline website that worked flawlessly right from the start this one is done absolutely carelessly and it is idiotically designed (second only to the world's worst website, SNCF). Doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence about the diligence at AF, I just hope that things related to flight safety are done less carelessly and with more diligence.

There will be an update? I'm not sure whether we should be looking forward to that. The current version has apparently taken 12 months longer than planned, and look what junk they have produced after all that time. So now either the next update will be just as bad, or will have 24 months delay to come up with something more reliable, or a miracle happens me they will fix it all shortly.

Well my bookings were there but the KLM site seems a bit undercooked. Went to look at a booking for March and it asked for API so as I had my passport handy, i thought i'd fill it in. Except it wouldn't let me. Once all the data was entered and sent a message appeared saying 'due to a technical error this is not possible'. Repeatedly. Maybe it works today.

Anyway, what I went on for was to ensure I had Economy comfort seats for myself and my wife. I get it for nothing but I had to pay for my wife and all was going fine until it requested payment. Entering the cc details brought the 'technical error' message again. I tried four times on two different computers and browsers over two days and no luck. In fact on occasion the error message read 'it is not possible to purchase more luggage allowance' or something!!

I then called KLM and a nice lady called Sonia tried to do it for me over the phone - using the website herself and.......same problem! To her credit she called me back twice in the afternoon to do the transaction by another method. Twice because just when she thought it was sorted on the first return call, it all collapsed again! Anyway, i am sure they will get it all working in due course.....but errors like that I would have though could have been caught before release.....thanks to Sonia though, very helpful.

Interesting. Today I have no bookings in the "manage your next trip", and in the pulldown menu I only have two bookings.

This is great. A sort of surprise generator every time I log in, I never get the same results.

However, on the booking end I am making progress. Now when selecting pre-recorded companions their name and DOB fills in automatically. But it claims they have no FB cards? EDIT: I manually re-entered the card numbers in the companions part of my profile. But they still don't fill automatically.

What I find intruiging is that there seems to be no pattern of the same issue repeating itself every time. Instead it is a variation, as if there was a random generator picking a new type of bug every time.

What are these people doing?? Complete amateurs in IT management? Everybody understands that new IT systems or functionalities may have a few glitches that are then quickly ironed out. But for a major airline to run something as dysfunctional as this especially for core things like seeing future reservations, buying a ticket, managing a profile - a complete failure. Sort of fits the overall picture though.

I'm flying KLM for the first time tomorrow and have been checking my booking like an obsessed woman over the last week. Anyway, I haven't had any glitches at all since the change. Wonder if browser compatibility is possibly contributing to the issues? I'm using Chrome.

The iPhone app showed my outgoing flight at being the 10th (instead of the 9th, which I booked) I checked it as I went to bed last night and just about had a heart attack. I had to come back downstairs to the computer to check my booking, and all was well. Very odd.

One major problem is that AF is trying to revamp its design, but can only deliver the new graphical layout for new projects or new modules.

If you're taking a deep look at airfrance.fr you can notice at least 3 different layout styles which reflects the past.

Interesting variation today: I can see past reservations, but no future reservations. Very exciting this AF lotery game.

So to sum it up where we stand on the five most important things an airline website should do (not in order of priority):

Make bookings - many bugs. Family and senior citizen fares, changing fares along the process, travel companions, pre-assignment of seats, crashes along the process. Add to that impracticalities such as inability to export to calendar, no visibility in Checkmytrip, no proper print format, email confirmations often don't come through, show no seat assignments or other special needs. Grade: C-
Make award bookings - some important bugs. erroneous availability displays, crashes along the process. Add to that impracticalities like hidden award tables. Grade C
Online check-in - completely bugged. Flights not found, impossibility to change seats, impossibility to seat people together, FFP status not taken into account, or just overall confused crash. Add to that impracticalities like mixed up forms of ID, no checkin for parties traveling with kids <2 years, only "confirmation" for some destinations, confusion for codeshares. Grade D
Online mileage account - the site display and interaction works for miles, there are problems with posting of transactions. However complete incoherence when it comes to status display. Add to that impracticalities such as having to click separately for every month, a clumsy layout. Grade C (because of status confusion, otherwise A-)
Check flight status - some delays in posting of information (usually faster from other non-AF sources). Big drawback: many many many clicks needed to find the information, and a many many many many more clicks needed to get an overview of a situation of several flights at an airport or on a route. Grade C

Is this good enough? AF seems to think so.

Let's not forget about some good functionalities that the site at least has designed (whether they work is a different matter), such as ability to change tickets online, ability to CKI on different flight when on a flexible ticket, having preferred travel companions.

We should never discount the power of the AFC-METC, "Air France Standing Committee to Make Easy Things Complicated" whose agenda it is to prevent the impact on website and process/procedure/policy design of common sense, user friendliness, customer orientation and pragmatism.

Having just logged in a bunch of times, I have discovered that there actually is an OLCI option, provided you DO NOT log in, because when you do it vanishes and is replaced by personalized information, which does include a "useful links" heading. Whether the content actually is useful is debatable. At some point my next flight also appeared, with an option to click on "check in". I did so and got "Sorry, we could not find the page you were looking for".

Fortunately, the Android app worked on the second attempt, first time I got a "try again later" message after having changed my seat selection.

Works for me,

But the trouble is that it should for everyone. Which it doesn't. Including for me. Having some hit-and-miss of whether it works isn't exactly what a "reliable" IT platform is about

and the list of upcoming flights is accurate.

Interesting. Just out of curiosity: do you have upcoming flights whose first leg was in the past? With which date do they show? Do you have past flights where you didn't use the return leg which was also in the past? Do they show or not? For me they sometimes do, sometimes not. I am just trying to figure out a pattern

Somebody checked the mileage? My booking gave me same amount for level and award miles without taking in consideration the platinum status. I phoned to FB and they told me to not worry too much...let's see

As pointed out by Ralph I would not worry too much - I am sure it will sort it self out soon.

Remember that you will only receive information about your LTPE in the 11th year (and not in the 10th year).

Mileage Summary [goes back to 14AUG10]

on AF:
there is a tick for level miles but not for level flights

on KL:
there is a tick for level miles and for level flights

on both:
there is a tick for level miles next to an award booking [AZ]

One upcoming flight I have is showing fine on both AF & KL. ^

Took two attempts to log in into KL site and one for AF. UK version of both.

To be honest I preferred the old website layout, my last leg on AZ (codeshare with AF) shows as ECY even though it was BC and even the return leg going out on AZ shows the same. I find the same on all versions. It also hangs a lot or states "the reservation tool is currently unavailable"

Try to lookup the fare earning rates here:

http://partnersearch.ehn.klm.com/af/us_en/

AF V will earn 25%, KLM does not offer V (or it earns 0%). So are your flights AF or KL coded?

AF but sold through AF or Kl website.

AF but sold through AF or Kl website.

All flights that are coded and operated by either AF or KL will earn some number of miles (187 miles being the absolute minimum - for those short-haul 25% earning fare codes) as long as they are not redemption flights that you paid for with Flying Blue miles.

You can not trust the reported mileage earning rates reported by the booking engine. It has always been thus.

As indicated above, you should check the true earning rate at the partnersearch pages (to determine the percentage earning rate for your fare code) and by using the Miles Finder (https://www.klm.com/travel/nl_en/flying_blue/earn_and_spend_miles/all_about_earning_and_spending_miles/miles_finder_earn.htm?from=bru&to=lys) (to determine the precise mileage awarded to that rate on that particular route)

If the decimal value is equal to or greater than five, one should round up, so such flights ought actually to earn 188 miles.

Does FB still use that "Generous by Nature" slogan?

You're thinking from the wrong side, the customer. You have to think from FB's point of view. ;)

We do not earn 75% of 750 miles, so we earn 750-562,5 miles, so after round up: we earn 750-563=187 miles.

It still doesn't work for me. I reported here back when the new site came up that logins don't work on airfrance.fr, each country site is different, klm.com is different, sometimes I have to log in multiple times, etc. It's really bad and there has been no improvement in all this time. I have to really hack around on multiple sites to get the info I need. :td:

KLM / AF's websites has always been full of bugs and always will be. The problem is that every new version is just a new design on the same crappy interface. Only if they would really start from scratch and build something new from the ground up I have hopes they will ever get rid of the endless patchwork that has been done and is being done on a daily basis to keep thing running. I bet there are still over 10.000 dead links that point to content that doesn't exist or moved permanently on both KLM and Airfrance.com alone.

Two things I don't get here.

1. I downloaded a "new" version of the iPhone app. Curious what was "new" about it I read in the text that new passwords were going to be used. So there's nothing new, it's the same as before. And it still runs with the old password, and I cannot seem to detect any function to change my password in the app.

2. Why do they want me to change my password in the first place?

May I suggest that AFKL stops trying to launch new things and first makes an effort to get to work what is out there now? Unless they believe compensating for dysfunctionalities by shiny new elements and pseudo security by going from four to six digit passwords. Amateurs.

Why is that when you click on the Check in Online icon on the home page, nothing whatsoever happens about half the time?

Using

does work, albeit with a few error messages along the way.

Same experience as Globalist.

Changed my password to 6 digits, but as my brain is getting old I forgot the new code.....should have known my self better.

Anyway, when clicking the various clicks to recover the password, I also ended up with a username e-mail......would it surprise any of you if it was a wrong user name?!?! well it was :o

30 minutes later I received a second mail with a temporary 4 digit code.

I've been trying to book miles trips on Air France during downtime over the last couple of days. I was able to search and find several flights a few days ago. Then there was an outage. Now -- am I nuts, or is there currently no way to navigate to a points-based booking engine? (US site)

Due to system maintenance it is currently not possible to book online.

To book an award ticket, please contact the Flying Blue Service Centre by telephone.

My best guess: The tool is unavailable from the US for whatever reason, and they thought it would be a good idea to also remove the link to the tool.

Yeah - what's really confusing about it is there's a "Book flight with miles" link under the Flying Blue section, and when you click it you go to a page that has a big item on it that says "see what's on offer with the award booking tool" -- but there's nothing to click on or form to enter city pairs.

Attempt to book GVA-CDG for kid and myself for departure on next day: airfrance.ch site lets me choose flights but then has outage with cryptic reason which lets me guess that it's too late for them. Log on to the French site, there it's not too late  but then three crashes in a row, fourth time I get error on child fare, fifth time it works. 45 minutes to book a simple ticket

Attempt to book CDG-BCN for family: clicking on the date in the calendar always picks previous day.

"My flights in the future" are always shown with date from outgoing flight in the past

Attempt to check fare for some route I don't remember: I get all kinds of fuzzy signs at the place of the fares table

CKI still completely idiotic in terms of finding tickets, changing seats, adding other people, etc.

And all of that was just over the past two weeks.

There's no way around it, even several months after its launch the site Is still a bug-ridden disaster with a layout designed by people with no structured thinking and no clue about web design. A complete failure, done by amateurs.
