KLM Flying Dutchman - Finally at Schipol: New renovated gates to make priority boarding work

At certain gates in Schipol, KLM have changed the system used at the gates.

While before the boarding passes were scanned before reaching the seating area, they have introduced new beautiful white counters at the back corner of the gate area and one in the centre back, and boarding passes are only scanned before boarding, and a seperate boarding line for business/elite members to board from.
They also have a seperate waiting area for business/elite members with comfortable sofa's and tables with plugs to charge laptops etc.
I was told by the GA that this is a trial at a few gates and they hope to introduce it to all gates.

Good job KLM (I'm superised there is no existing thread discuusing this great change, maybe I simply missed it).

Perhaps should be merged with the SkyPriority thread.

I hope they will implement this fast. ^

The new gates in the D-concourse is a project between KLM and Schiphol Airport. Depending on the kind of flight there will be two different settings of the gate. On all narrow-body flights (only leaving from gate D5 for instance) KLM scans the boarding passes at the gate door. This will be easier to implement the new SkyPriority. On all wide-body flights (leaving from D3) they scan the boarding passes right after the security check. This is the same way as they do it now with the old gate settings. This is faster for the airline when boarding those bigger planes.

The new gates have new signs that can be changed to the appropriate airline leaving from that gate, a new security check, a queue system in front of the checkpoint (with a SkyPriority access lane), new seats, tables to plug your electronics and a SkyPriority waiting area with comfy seats and a no-hassle entrance for boarding.

I like the idea, but if the better seating area is blocked off, could they not scan the boarding pass before passengers enter the appropriate gate waiting area and then board the SkyPriority seating area first?

Excellent observation, here's hoping for swift implementation.
