I just look at Alilaguna price to buy on-line, 24 hr ticket include Museum admission, 72 hr ticket include tour of Murano glass museum. Is this on-line price worth buying (it sound much cheaper than in-person)? Does the offer easy to use? Please tell me your experience.

Should I buy this before I get there?

Thank you.

would you post the link? the glass factory is a free sales pitch deal. alilaguna is sold by the trip. read the fine print on the museum admission, as some museums are not included on some of the deals. the museum admission is a good deal if you qualify for the over 60/65 rate. the navel museum was not included. the ducal palace was included. most of the time frame travel deals are for vaporetto, and well worth it. we bought a 7 day. the savings is considerable.

The link is www.alilaguna.com. I wonder anyone has brought them on-line and find it worth the price? Or just go to Venice and buy what ever availble.

The Alilaguna line offers in my opinion the best way to get from the airport to Venice, and back. One in Venice the Alilaguna line isn't much use unless yo certain specialized itineraries. But, unless your up to lots and lots of walking, up and down bridges, you will need a vaporetto pass, or ACTV pass from Venice Connected. The vaporetto is 6.5 Euros each way. For two people to take a round trip that's 26 Euros, or about $34. That's throwing away money, fast. By an unlimited pass for the number of days you need. The Venice Connected website makes it easy. I can't really think of anywhere you'd want to go on the Alilaguna line that the vaporetto won't take you to, with better boats and much more frequent schedule. You have to get them at least 7 days in advance to maximize the discount.

last week we bought an online taxi , vaporetto for a week and museum passes for over 65's(?)

you must buy a week or 5 days in advance, or some such. i got an email print out for vaporetto, taxi, and museums. thee was a large booth with 4 men in the center of vce reception hall. they found my name on a clip board traded papers, and sent me the the taxi/alilaguna dock. 10 min walk. rollers do work. do not hire a porter. very expensive. after much sorting among the 10 drivers, we were taken to our hotel. dropoff was about 20 meters form the door. luggage was placed on the pier for us.

the email printout was accepted at the doge palace, which is the pickiest admission place in venice. this pass does not work in half the places, but onc can be busy for a month with the other half.

s could not imagine "sighting seeing" on a alilaguna boat. one sits in the bowels of the boat, and can only see sky. may they have other boats. they do have a lot more boats and routes than 4 years ago.

to get a vaporetto ticket, the email pass can be scanned at the new machines upon entrance to vaporetto stop. the machine spit out a ticket good for 6 or 7 days. one is supposed to scan the ticket upon each boarding(i think), but the ticket is not marked. we have been ticket checked twice in our rides in venice(out of hundreds of rides)

almost all the bridges we crossed had ramps, which would eliminate the steps. i do not know if they were put up for luggage, shoppers, handicapped, or baby carriages. i do not know if and when they come down. fog froze on them in the mornings, and they were very slippery.

normal taxi is 100€. night and from airport is110€. the on line airport is €100. they state a return can be pruchased for €90. i do not know if that includes the night premium.

Perche,
I look at Alilaguna.it website it has two lines Blue and Orange. Seem like Blue line will get me to the hotel directly from the airport to Molino Stucky Hilton. The Orange line also run from the airport through Grand canal. Buying 24-72 hr pass from Alilaguna on-line would save a lot of money. I am not familar witht he Vaporetto services, is it all over Venice and convenient, are there on-line site to buy ahead for cost saving?

http://www.hellovenezia.com/

this is the discount taxi, museum admission, alilalugna and vaparetto ticket site.

"Buying 24-72 hr pass from Alilaguna on-line would save a lot of money. " although i have difficulty with the site, i do not think one can buy a 72 hr alilalugna ticket. can someone read the italian site, and figure out if they sell a 72 hr pass?

Agreed, the site is very confusing. They do sell a 72 hour pass (http://www.venicelink.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_escursioni.tpl&product_id=29&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=43&lang=english), for a price of 45 EU.

I do not consider this a very good deal. The Alilaguna serves a purpose to get one to/from the airport, it isn't a very good option for siteseeing in the city. Really, that's best done on foot, or by making use of vaporetti (water buses).

The advanced purchase price of a rt ticket to/from the airport is 24EU, so you are paying an add'l 21EU to get around the city during a ltd time period, and get to Murano in the slowest possible fashion.

There is an add'l 72 hour ticket, the 72 "Plus" - which includes a "tour in private launch along the GC" - which suggests it will be just your own party in water taxi - but the fine print makes it clear this is a group activity (min. 6 people) that leaves only at certain times.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Just got back from Venice, and am just now beginning to thaw out (f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g). You didn't say when you were leaving. As I mentioned, in my opinion the Alilaguna is the best way to get from the airport to Venice, and back again. That is, unless you want to spend 110 Euros on a water taxi. Other than that, I don't seen any reason to have anything to do with it. As mentioned, you go down into the boat, and you can't see anything out of the scratched, wet, plastic windows. It's not a boat for a tour. If it's warm, there is a small place in the back of the boat to sit outside, and it's nice to approach Venice by water.

I personally wouldn't want to take a bus, then get off at Piazzale Roma, then ugliest part of Venice, basically just a big traffic circle, and then take a vaporetto. I don't think you save anything with them.

You didn't mention how long you are staying, but suggested it will be 72 hours. In my opinion, go to the Venice Connected website.
http://www.veniceconnected.com/visit-venice

Click on Booking - Buy Now, to choose your dates. You need to be 7 days in advance to maximize savings.
http://www.veniceconnected.com/buy/calendar

Choose your calendar date of arrival, then you'll go to a place where you can buy transportation by Alilaguna from the airport to Venice, and can buy a return (round-trip) ticket. I don't prefer to stay at the Molina Stuckey, but often stay on the Giudecca, and have taken the Alilaguna Blue line to and from the airport. No problem. Just not a great boat for sightseeing. It's just as cheap to get it here as at the Alilaguna site.

On this page you can also buy reduced price museum tickets, and at the museums they allow you to cut to the front of the line. They don't sell for every museum, but for most. You can buy a wifi ticket for as many days as you want. It lets you connect from many hotspots in the city.

It's possible to stay in Venice for even a few weeks without taking a vaporetto (water bus). It works if you are young, and a strong walker. But when you do want to take a vaporetto, at 6.5 Euros each way, that's about $17 per person, per round trip. Also, no matter how far you can walk, there's nothing like a vaporetto trip down the Grand Canal. And, you also need to take the same trip at night. This is basic sightseeing, and you'll want to do it no matter how many times you've been to 'venice. So it does help to get a pass.

It doesn't take too many trips before you spend so much money that it's cheaper to buy a pass. It gives unlimited use of the water bus for example, for three days for 24.75 Euros. That's cheaper than two round trips. It's 37.50 E for a week. And you can go virtually anywhere the Alilaguna will take you, except the airport.

So go to the Venice Connected website, buy the roundtrip Alilaguna ticket, linea blu, to and from Molino Stuckey. Add to your shopping cart the ACTV/Vaporetto pass for the number of days you want. Add Wifi if you want it. And throw in the passes for the museums you want. Forget the Alilaguna website.

You will be sent an email receipt, and also an email with a personal PNR number. Take it with you. When you get to the airport, don't stop. Just go outside, head left under the awning. Everyone will be coming and going on the same path. Go past the water taxis, all the way to the end to a booth. Show them the receipt. They will give you the roundtrip Alilaguna ticket.

After you get to your hotel and do what you have to do, go to the nearest vaporetto stop (I think near Molino Stuckey it's Palanca). And have the PNR they mailed to you ready. Then follow the simple instructions shown in this video at the website below. You'll then have your unlimited pass. If I were you, I'd forget Alilaguna except for the airport.

Perche,
Thank you very much for the infor, your information very helpful with my planning. I will be in Venice May 16-18. You are right that Alilaguna blue line would be the best to get from airport to Molano Stucky Hiton eventhough it will take 1:45 minutes total. The bus and water shuttle will not save me that much time and it is a hassle load and unload the lugguages.

Since I will be in Venice only 2 days, to use water bus just have to pay each time and do more walking. I will buy it on-line both museum pass and Alilaguna.

Thank you again for your help.

Liana.

i don't think the bus and vaperetto will save time. surely not much. if you are two, i would consider the water taxi. on line, you can get the rt ticket for €190. seems like a lot, but how much are you spending to get to, stay, and get back from venice.

by the way, getting to either is a 10min walk. if you do not arrive at the right time, the next alilugna is probably 30 min away.
