National - *Surprise* They actually read compliment letters

I've written a few compliment letters in the past, but I wrote a particularly glowing one recently, singling out employees by name. It was submitted using the general customer feedback form on the National website.

To my great surprise, I was emailed by an EHI Vice President who promised to send the compliment letter to area district managers. So if you've received great consideration from a National employee, do him/her a favor and write a quick note.;)

Nice and I agree generally. However, if the consideration from an employee is well beyond what you are entitled to (eg upgrade to Luxury from a Compact reservation), it's probably not a good idea to be too specific in your compliment - it could get the employee in trouble.

Of course, I was sufficiently vague. :)

And I have yet to receive an upgrade from compact to Luxury. :P

I wrote a compliment letter recently too. Employee went out of his way to help me out with car switches, then I forgot my cell months car and he managed to call a number that used to be on my profile to let someone know they had it.

What did I get back after spending a solid 10 minutes writing this? A canned "its always nice to hear compliments about our employees" response and that's it.

LOL.. funny you should mention that. Yesterday I booked a 1 day local rental, a compact and used a coupon to upgrade to a Midsize. On pickup, with Emerald Counter service, they had a brand new 2012 Infiniti reserved for me. I declined and chose a minivan, as I needed some space to move some stuff. :)

Very nice that they showed appreciation for your status. EA has always been good to me that way.
