Etihad Airways Etihad Guest - Etihad guest, application name problems

Flew last year with Etihad in preparation for this I registered my wife on the family member web area, my wife has two first names that appear in her passport (example abc def), upon clicking to go on it said this was not possible, so I but the names together (abcdef). As it was my wife's account and linked to mine I never thought of checking, cause I never needed to fly with them again until now, I checked the points and found that hers had not been credited although we had given the numbers to the girl at check in, and the number appeared on all boarding cards. Etihad said that the name on the boarding cards and the name in the Etihad guest profile did not match so they could not process the points, they would never match as the software did not accept the correct version of my wife's name.

Now I want to use them and fly with my mother in law, so again I registered her on the Etihad Guest profile, she has a hyphen between her first name (example ab-cde) again after completing the details I pressed continue, the name was not accepted, this is the name on the passport, so again I had to change it (now abcde), since this will again not match the name on the boarding card I am loathed to fly with them and not get the miles I should.

I think the numbers are more important than the names, what happens if someone gets married and does not change their name, do they automatically not get their miles.

I have sent them emails and got replies but their line is that it is over 6 months, my point of view is that this is really used for people who do not have their number or card, whereas we were registered on their computer at both airports and the Etihad Guest numbers were logged as stated.

It may not be many points, only 13,500, but it is still points. I sent them a screen shot of the registration of my mother in law to prove my point, now just wait and see

Just drop the hyphen "-" from your mother-in-law's name when you buy the ticket. Then ticket and FF-account match. I do it like this all the time. It for sure works on EY.

Good idea but the thing is then the name on the ticket does not match that in the passport, so she could get refused onto the plane.

All EY has to do is use the numbers and not the names on the Etihad Guest card.

In another forum based where I live a guy had a similar problem as he has a double barreled name, but uses the first one as his middle name on the log in form, again Etihad refused to give him his miles as names did not match.

No problem if passport and ticket do not perfectly match. I NEVER even had a raised eyebrow about it.

Since posting here and also sending Etihad a copy of their website, which indicates the problems with the names, they have no accredited my account with the missing miles, credit to them where credit is due:)^
