Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - 100K Virgin Miles

I was going to apply for the Virgin Visa and Amex which would give me 100K miles

I only fly in the U.S, what can I do with these miles ?

What is the difference ? I have never done business with Virgin before

They're two different airlines owned by two different ownership groups with two different credit cards and two different loyalty programs and two different forums on FlyerTalk?

In other words: they both use red colors on their planes and have "Virgin" in their names, but otherwise: not the same airline.

And you're not going to get good answers about how Virgin Atlantic works in the Virgin America forum.

Unless you plan to fly internationally on VS then these are the wrong cards for you.
You will find many more useful affiliations.

Just to confirm to any VS members who may be as bemused as I was, this thread originally started on the VX forum but was moved over here since the OP is talking about VS.

I was under the impression I could use these miles on USAIR, CO (and possibly united after the merger). Is this not correct ?

Spend Miles

"Please note that as of the 13th February 2012, members will no longer be able to spend their Flying Club miles on Continental flights."



If you only fly in the US then I don't think the VS FC is for you (unless you fly US Airways of course) or use the partner hotel chains.

I suggest you have a really good look at the flying club partners section on the VS website before committing yourself to applying for the card

I'm tapped out with Chase, Delta and American airlines for a while. I can use US AIR though. I think I read that these miles can also be used for island to island flights in Hawaii. Sorry for all the questions but I have never ventured out beyond Delta, Northwest, AA, CO, United and US air credit cards/flights

VS AmEx is my go-to. 1.5 miles per $, accepted at Costco, gets AmEx seasonal bonuses (small biz $25, etc), and adds to the 1100 miles per rental at Hertz or Avis on VS.

I mostly fly US so the miles are useful. I've used them on Hawaiian. Plan to use them on Singapore Air.

Plus Branson insists VS is joining an alliance (Skyteam or *A- he's bargaining).
