I can ask my brother if you want, he goes back and forth between PHL and TLV twice a month, if there's anyone who'd know it's him!

My mother in-law does it quite often and says the food is quite decent (by US KSML standards) but she can't remember the supplier.

I've taken it from TLV-PHL and the new Envoy Suites are fantastic

Its quite an impressive "Suite" for business class. Possibly the best I've experienced outside of SQ

So if you guys were flying from DC to TLV, would you go:
DCA-PHL-TLV on US
or
IAD-LHR-TLV on BA
????

It's basically the same as UA's F. I consider that not to be a true F product, but Envoy, billed as C, is one of the best, if not the best.

My routing there would be BA F>Envoy>CW>WT +>WT>US Y. But if you expanded your options, there are other great options. I'd take CO's BF KSML over any other carrier except LY.
BTW, I'd sooner take Acela Express sleeper cabin over flying DCA-PHL, but that's just me. It's a bit less convenient though.

I would grab US in Envoy over COs BF anytime any day

also Acela would cost additional, while either the US or UA flight would be included in the tkt, be it a paid or miles tkt

however due to USs 1-2-1 and the 2 being a ^ set up, 2 people traveling together might prefer COs set up unless tey dont want to deal with each other during the flight

US has a better hard product than CO, no question. I prefer the food and service though on CO to US's.
A pair should have no problem with US's center seats, as they face each other. It's not as ideal as BF, but it's not terrible at all. Not like UA F on the 763 (or even the new F on 744/772)

sorry to differ, but US isnt really good for 2 people traveling togther even in the middle section. The only way they can see each other is if both lean forward and sit in an awkward position.

The seats arent paralel to 1 another but is as I said above in an ^ position, so both people have to lean very much forward to see each other. While with COs BF you simply glance to your side

I've been wishing to try US's Envoy seat for so long now.

How would you compare it to AC's J class?

people keep in mind we arent talking about just any Envoy seat! But are about the Envoy in USs A-300-200 that is used only on certain routes, including TLV, LHR and CDG I believe

the other Envoy seats are the old seats and wont be nearly as nice

Sounds good. I'm planning to go to Israel for Succos (Yes, I do have to plan that far out, work schedule is INSANE.) I'll try and give those seats a try.

Yes I'm aware of that, but didn't they upgrade te A333's as well?

Not too crazy. Definitely a great option

They started, but they haven't finished. They've upgraded 2 of 9. In the 7 that haven't been upgraded, they have sleeper seats (though I'm not sure if they're the same as the new suites) in the front row.

If you're based out of YUL why would you fly US from PHL when you can grab AC from YYZ?

Because what differance does it make if I stop in YYZ for DOM>INTL connection or if I stop in PHL as TB>INTL.

In YYZ I'll have to collect my luggage, clear customs, drop it off again, get re screened, etc..

PHL I'll have to do basically the same thing, so why not try a new product?

Plus I find AC's herringbone suites a little akward to use.

Personally havent flown on AC but have heard good things

I would have thought that a YUL-YYZ-TLV routing would require less time then a YUL-PHL-TLV . But I just found out its a YUL-YOW-YYZ-TLV routing so thats good enough reason to KO AC.

LX has nice timings

Dont get me wrong about US I have them booked for my May trip, just dont care for the 11pm , 5am arrival into PHL. So I will have to leave my bags at the Hotel when I have to check out and wonder around during the day and go back to the hotel before leaving for TLV. I think AC leaves at 1pm which would have worked out better but for my dates meant overnighting at YYZ on my return

While that makes sense if you're staying at a hotel, I generally like this departure. Full day in Israel, get to the airport, head to the Dan Lounge and grab a bite to eat, sleep on the plane, wake up in the morning. No jet lag

Well if you call AC to book they can get you 1 stop, no problem.
Yes LX has great timings but I've flown them so much already, i practically know the FA's names by heart.
The 5am into Philly is pretty annoying if your terminating there, but for me it's great. I have a 2hr:49min layover and then I hop onto my connection to YUL. Leaves just enough time to relax in the lounge a bit.

No, in the S12 scheduale they arrive at 1140 and depart TLV again at 1310

Don't know about the TLV flight as only flew it once in economy and didn't bother to eat the food because it did not look too appetizing. But I recently flew envoy PHL-FCO and apparently U.S. uses the dreadful Kosh Air. My wife and I were served raw steaks!

Pardon me for daring to stick my two cents' worth in, but can someone kindly explain to me, please, just how this thread (on the relative merits of different airline's seating arrangements" fit into a "religious travelers" forum?

yea sort of like the game Telephone that people used to play at a party or gathering. 1 person whispered something into the ear of the person next to them and it continued to the last person who then said out loud what they were told. Of cause hardly ever was it any where near to what the 1st person told the 2nd. Which happens on FT as well after a few posts the whole point of the thread has been highjacked and the dscussion is about something else completely
