Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Full UC cabin, but quiet Clubhouse in HKG

Just flew back from HKG. There were about eight pax in the lounge, but the cabin was full. I only noted two of us visited the Revivals lounge back at LHR.
Do people not use lounges anymore, or is there a more sinister reason that everyone else was on a op-up, which doesn't get lounge access?

I suspect a batch of reasons - firstly there are a few areas to the HKG clubhouse and you may not have seen everyone, HKG is itself a place where people spend time, connection passengers arriving late, or in some cases people may not have found the lounge! VS does not upgrade unless absolutely necessary when PE is overbooked, so likely not opups,.
I can't imagine there were 37 op-ups, especially on a Hong Kong flight. Did you use both the balcony and inside part of the Clubhouse? Or maybe people were showering between the SYD and LHR legs?

people may have gone straight from immigration to the gate skipping the lounge. If they were delayed there they would not have made the CH (I assume that SYD-LHR pax have to do this jst as LHR-SYD pax do). They may not have even realised they could use the HKG CH.
As to using revivals it depends on pax ultimate destination they may have transfers to connect to or (like me) there is no point as going to revivals as its better to get my car/taxi straight hime
