Searched through the previous SKB threads but couldn't find any discussions about a rental car. I know Avis and Thrifty are at the airport but their rates are nearly double some of the local/non-chain companies advertising online. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable rental car company on the island? Will be staying at the Marriott, so if they have a drop off/pick up service at the Marriott that would be a plus, but we are more than willing to taxi to the pickup location if it is worth it. Thanks!

St. Kitts is one of the Caribbean islands where I suggest you are better off NOT renting a car.
Taxis are abundant on St. Kitts. The drivers would LOVE to be your chauffeur for the entirety of your trip. They will give you their card and will be at your beck and call during your vacation. Just call them from the hotel and tell them when you want a ride and they will be there. It really is a system I have not seen on any other island. Plus, they are excellent tour guides and can not only tell you where the good food is, they can also spend hours (if you wish) giving you a guided tour of the island, complete with narration.
St. Kitts is not a very touristy island (in fact, the Marriott is the only name hotel there) but the residents rely on tourism as their main source of income and could really use your cash :)
Additionally, they drive on the left hand side of the road (and rather fast at that) so if you are from the US, it can be very dangerous.
Just as an aside, there are some great restaurants/beach bars just up the street from the Marriott that offer dinner and a drink for around $10. Good, local food. Venture out from the hotel and experience something a bit more authentic.
Hope this helps. Have fun :)
