Sorry but I can't find this answer. It says reward redemptions are good for a standard room. If I book my first night stay in a higher end room (suite, gold floor) and want to use my second night there as my free one, will I get downgraded and have to switch rooms?

You can try and hotel might honor it, just don't expect it.

Some hotels do, some hotels don't.....lots of us have stayed in IHG hotels all over the world, so if you post a question in that hotel's respective 'master thread' someone quite possibly will have the answer you are looking for.

For reward bookings the official line from the hotel will always be "Standard Room Only". Anything in addition to this will be a bonus.

An individual hotel may allow you to retain a higher value room, taking into account:



Current occupancy levels

Your stay history at the property

Your PC status

The length of your stay

The price difference between rooms booked

Maybe even your attitude towards reception staff could make a difference on the day....
