Practical Travel Safety Issues - Privacy question - in regards to personal information.

So I've never flown before and am one of 'those' people who gets a little uneasy when it comes to spewing out personal info among a group of strangers. I may plan a flight and have a few basic privacy concerns while at the airport. I'm perfectly fine with handing over my ID when it's requested and hope this is all I have to do for personal identification. However, I do have these questions:
- At any point during the airport process [check-in/check-out/TSA/security/etc)] would I be prompted to verbally say out loud and/or spell my name?
- Additionally, would I be asked to verbally state or confirm my date of birth out loud during any point in the process?
I realize these are likely moot, silly concerns to some, but I am one of those weird, intensely private people.

Yes, starting last July at many airports TSA agents have started requiring you to state your name when at the ID check. This is ostensibly to see if you give the name that matches the one on your BP. Here's the main TS&S thread for some history and discussion:

There are more if you search TS&S forums for "name."

ANd in certain airports - notably BOS and DTW - you may be subject to interrogation by the ID checker or another TSA employee. They may ask about your name, who you work for, where and why you're traveling, etc. etc.

I can not remember any reports for stating DOB. The "state your name" is common. I got it in DAL.

Welcome to FT!
As mentioned already you will more then likely get the 'State Your Name' drill. Depending on the TDC you MAY get the 'reason for travel and blah blah drilling' I've yet to be asked for DoB.
Stand your ground, what ever it may be. Be prepared to either use another CP or fly later that day.
I have never been asked for anything more than my last name. Just in case you are, you can simply give a generic answer, like you're visiting "friends". They have no way of checking.

I personally never been to, but i think i heard an id scanner ask somebody his birthdate.
At IAD on Saturday, I heard one of the ID checkers tell a passenger: "April 17, that's also the birthday of my granddaughter....".
