Hello all,

I am heading to Indy this upcoming weekend for the super bowl and would like to see if anyone has suggestions for the bar scene around the downtown area. I am a 24y/o MBA student and will be staying at the Hilton, so any establishments with a "younger" crowd and within walking distance or a short cab ride from the Hilton is a plus. Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

Without a doubt visit the slippery noodle....

There is also a HUGE party that Rolling Stone Magazine, VW and Bacardi are putting on the night before the game - 5 hour open bar - Top Shelf, lots of Big Names and Lots of fun.

Here's info on the bash - http://rollingstonerockweekend.com/bacardi-bash/

I spend a lot of time in Indy.
You have a lot of choices downtown. If you hang around the W. Maryland, S. Illinois street intersections there are quite a few choices.
You've got St. Elmo's. One of the finest steakhouses in the country, and they have a decent bar. Usually a young crowd. However, the Super Bowl may change that dynamic so don't hold me to it.
Try the Shrimp Cocktail. It will set your sinus on fire. Then follow it up with whatever you want to drink and have fun. This is kind of an Indy Landmark, so that's why I'm mentioning it.

Also, you've got Palomino's just across W. Maryland. Another good bar. Larger bar than St. Elmo's. You'll usually find a young crowd there too. Again, Superbowl not withstanding. Palomino's is a chain. I go to them in certain cities (like Pittsburgh, and Indy). Always a good bar crowd, but maybe I just got lucky.

And yes, you should definitely go to the Slippery Noodle. Usually a very young crowd. I've had trouble getting in, due to the crowds. But you'll be ready for that due to the S.B.

Remember, it's the MIDWEST and it's the SUPERBOWL so things may get goofy and what you would typically see on a normal business day, you will probably not during the Bowl.

Enjoy

Just went to Ball and Biscuit an hour ago (Sunday 01/29/12) and it is great - highly recommended and a quick walk from downtown:

Next door is Bazbeaux Pizza - terrific pizza - try that another night.

Don't forget the zip line, it is for a younger person. Indy is a cool town...

Enjoy the The Circle City...

Bad news: Slippery Noodle cover is going up to $125 this week. Yea - it's not worth it.

St. Elmo's has a $500/diner minimum during the SB and is pretty much completely booked out. Alternative is hitting Harry and Izzy's in the airport before you leave - same menu, less wait.

I have heard hotel room are booked up all the way to MUNCIE. Wow.

Glad I'm not going.

I'm a board member of an organization that wanted to hold a board meeting Superbowl Saturday in Indy. They quickly realized that was a bad idea, and moved it to Chicago.

I'm going no where near that city.

Crowds of that magnitude are not my idea of a good time.
