Just completed our stay at HHV---and while I could go into much detail, I just want to inform anyone planning a trip to try to get room 2501 in the Rainbow Tower and be sure to be in your room Fri. eve when the fireworks start. It is unbelievable! The fireworks actually burst right in front of you! Awesome!! Just thought I'd share...

We'll be there tomorrow. Did you just check out?

If so, I will call and request it. Also, is that the best one? What are some alternatives?

MissBumpMe! and I had 3101 in April.
We could have had our eyebrows vurned by the fireworks they were so close!

...'Twas a wonderful view.

We've asked for the same room in November when we return. So far, no word from HHW.

The Rainbow Tower is the best---rooms ending in 01 are corner rooms with 2 lanais--one has a view of Diamond Head, the other overlooks the Pacific and marina. Of course, the higher the better. We were first assigned room 549 in the Tapa Tower, supposedly a garden view. The room overlooks an asphalt roof. One would never know that the hotel is on the beach. We were assured via a phone call from HHV before our trip that we would be in the Rainbow Tower--( The trip was for our 33rd wedding anniversary-and my husband had written with his request for same) Upon check-in, we were given the worst room in the place, and told all other rooms were taken. Even a talk with the woman in guest services was futile. Not only is that particular room in a bad location, the toilet was stopped up and the sliding door to the lanai was stuck. It took 3 calls to guest hotline before someone came to fix things an hour later. I tried again in the morning to get a different room, and when it was clear that we were being given the run-around, I called 1-800-HHonors, explaining our situation. Within an hour we were assigned our wonderful room in the Rainbow Tower. There's more to the story, but I'll leave it at that. Oh, and be sure to pick up all the brochures in the airport. Lots of info.

The Rainbow Tower is absolutely THE BEST. I can't believe we actually paid for the first night in the Alii Tower. The room in Alii was small with a balcony and limited view. We then used our ALON award for a room in the Rainbow Tower----tada--- Room 2501. Fantastic views from both lanais!!! You can upgrade the breakfast coupons for a full breakfast for $6.25. You also have the opportunity to get 30,000 HH points if you listen to the timeshare talk. Waaaah - we were not eligible because a year had not gone by since we listened to a presentation in NY. (I guess Hilton has figured out that some of us are just point junkies).
The Airport Hilton in Los Angeles and the Las Vegas Hilton were also terrific. We love to change hotels while in Las Vegas- have tried out 23 of them over the years!! This time we also stayed atHarrahs and the Aladdin. We were upgraded at the A to a VISTA room. It is a junior suite.HUGE!! It even had a desktop computer in the room!! The problem with the Aladdin is the size of the place. TOO BIG!! The Desert Passage shops at the A are in a circular layout. The circle is a mile and a half long. Anyway it was a memorable vacation! We were treated very well by Hilton. Thanks to all the flyertalkers who posted info on HHV. It was so helpful.
