Hilton HHonors - A new cheaper rate while you're staying... what would you do?

I am staying at a UK hilton with a flexible rate of 169 pounds for 2 nights. Search on the second night only shows another flexible rate which is 20 pounds cheaper than my rate.

I have asked the lady at the executive floor lounge if she could just change the rate for me - as it is a flexible rate, I could have just check out and checked-in again but I didn't bother, also because I didn't want to change my room. She said she needed to contact her supervisor but she hasn't come back to me yet.

I thought it didn't hurt to ask - but what would you have done if you were in my position? Any comments welcome.

I'd have done what you did...ask. If denied, I'd probably go ahead and checkout and check back in. Of course, if I'm there it will be for personal rather than business and 20 euro for even one day goes far to putting my backside in a theater seat.

well thanks, yeah, and it's 20 pounds, not euros!! I'm here for business but I'm self-employed and that would have covered some meals... it's already 12.30 so I can't check-out and check-in anymore but as a courtesy I would appreciate if the lady could come back to me with a reply... will see how it goes.

now received a call from the young lady telling me that once I booked with a rate, it couldn't be changed. Which I don't think it's true. But as I said, it's past the time when I can do anything. When will I be able to find a hotel which will accommodate such things... I'll stay there every time I needed to and would mean lots of business. But I don't think they care. Thank you for listening!

Why don't you ask to speak with the mngr?
I'm willing to bet you will get satisfaction.

Good luck!
